Yeah you're most likely correct. Still, it seems a shame to not offer it to those that may be interested that didn't snag it in the LE set. All 5 of those people.

I was just looking over the Morgan Creek Library and that one jumped out as something that could make for a minor announcement. Even if it was a limited run of say 3000 units I'd like to think that there would be enough interest to move through them.

I would kill for Scream to release a collector's edition of Donnie Darko with updated interviews and a new scan (the existing one is so bad).

It's a great idea in theory, but I'm fairly confident that the length of such a list exhaust the remaining character limit in the OP.

I got Arrow's version, which has much better extras, but it does have the same transfer as the US disc. Fox needs to stand down!
Huh? There's nothing wrong with BTILC's transfer whatsoever, I think it looks gorgeous. Factor in all of Arrow's supplements on top and I fail to see how it could possibly be improved, apart from two slipcovers.

Agree, Jeepers Creepers 1 is a gritty film and it does add to the overall atmosphere, saw it the other day on the Scream blu-ray. Just wondering, did anyone else have any problems with the sound being out of sync on several occasions? It wasn't too bothersome, as the sound did get into sync again a couple of moments later, just wondering if this is a common problem with this title, or if I received a faulty disc? Did receive it very early from dvdpacific, it came unwrapped, and according to many people not receiving it on the date it was supposed to be released, I did recieve it very early.

I'm also fed up with people only jabbing on about Salva and his paedophiliac preferences. I mean by God, how many directors' films should we avoid if we were to always take into consideration the political or personal preferences of the director himself? A long list of "no-no" films that would become. Truth is, Jeepers Creepers (especially the first one) is among the better ambient horror movies from that decade, which had a lot of crap being released. It's a film you can watch many times without it losing its impact, ambience and grittiness. Bring it on!

Oh man, couldn't agree more on those three titles. Candyman really needs a new scan, it's pretty bad the on the UK disc, ROTL part 2 would be awesome as it's a really funny horror comedy - yeah I know the main characters are a bit whiny and you just want to smack'em in the face but that's kinda the point with those morons in part 2. Leatherface 3 is way overdue for a blu-ray release, seeing that the first has gotten at least five blu-ray releases, part 2 has at least three releases. Bring on the sequels, for crying out loud. Talking about sequels, what are the chances of Scream getting Evil Dead 1 and 2 released, to bring out Collector's editions of those to complement their beautiful Army of Darkness release? Now for sure there would be a humongous interest in those two titles. Asking the gurus on this forum, as I haven't gotten a clue on the rights holders on those two titles, other than them being released a in a hundred different editions previously by Anchor Bay/Starz and then part 2 was released in a beefed up version by Lionsgate. Yeah so that means they will not be released by Scream in the near future. Right?

In reference to Fright Night and Fright Night II Scream Factory Never say never but at this time (and for the foreseeable future) we do not have inroads for these two films.

Leatherface TCM III is with Warner
ROTLD Part II is with Warner
Candyman is with Sony
Donnie Darko is with Fox

None of these are likely at this point , especially the Warner titles. There was a rumor swirling that Candyman was with Twilight Time but that might not be the case. If shout were to strike deals with these studios, Im certain that all four of these films would be on Cliff's list.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054866/companycredits

It was with Image since 2008 and Scream picked it up. Warner produced it and released it on VHS, lost the rights as it went to Image, and their rights expired. It seems like several Lakeshore and Image rights to some titles are expiring which is good if Shout or others can get them..
So you are wrong, sorry Criterion is the one label that gets Warner owned titles because they remaster some of their films. Its a favor for favor flavor

Also Xtro is now with Warner if youre keeping score.

Ok now you've got me excited. I own the UK release, and the thought of paying $34 for an upgrade isn't something I'm looking forward to... but Twilight Time has generally done good work and the UK release leaves a lot to be desired. I'd much prefer an Arrow/Criterion/Scream/Sony release... but will happily snatch up a Twilight Time edition if it comes to Fruition.

I dont know if they actually have Candyman, so I cant say that they do or dont, but it was rumored awhile ago and I didnt forget - it was something I read on their page a long time ago.
I have the import myself but will gladly upgrade to a worthy US release. I know TT has soured on horror titles to some degree so we'll see what the future holds.

I have no problem with it at all, but I just assume any transfer from 2009 will have everyone saying "IT'S DATED IT NEEDS A NEW ONE" after seeing what people say about The Fly, Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers 78, etc now. Before the last couple months, everyone said "they look really good, they don't need a new transfer!!" Now everyone is talking like they suck and need a new scan immediately (and Carrie is getting one!). I was just trying to be cool and fit in!!!

Then again, it seemed like practically everyone decided the original version of EFNY looked better (or that it was basically a wash), so maybe Shout would back off here.

Even if they don't need to give it a new transfer, Shout have plenty of maneuvering room to make a better US edition considering how thoroughly the Arrow trounced the US release in that regard. Arrow hasn't seemed to show much interest in acquiring rights to release their handful of mainstream pics over here, otherwise I'd hope that they'd get the rights to put out the same release here.

I think it all depends on who you ask.
God could reach down from the heavens and bless any given SF release, but there are a select few that would still find fault and call it rubbish just because it has the SF logo. It is what it is.

Me, I'm quite happy with SF's string of announcements so far. Just great stuff coming up over the next few months.

In all fairness, she could cast out any given SF release and some will still find reasons to worship the release.

Yeah, I recall Mad Max (one of the very few that truly is bad, apart from the new Mel Gibson interview) having a few people come in and go "ANOTHER GREAT SHOUT RELEASE!!!" right in the middle of the disappointment. There are fanboys on both sides!

I'm really impressed by how they've upped their game recently. I really am looking forward to The Thing and Carrie, two of my favorites, and the Bill and Ted set. I am less excited by ROTLD just because I already have the MGM bluray and the DVD of More Brains, but I will definitely pick it up when it goes into the 20 dollar range.

Which ones are the worst releases? Mad Max, Escape from New York, Dog Soldiers, They Live, right? I remember some saying those were low tier.

Mad Max is legit bad, with the transfer being the same as the MGM release but with a lot more compression problems.

EFNY has a lot of people who hate the brighter transfer, but I think majority opinion would be that it's the better version, and I think a majority of the ones who prefer the older one think it's very close. I certainly have no problem with it and feel no need to buy the first version.

Dog Soldiers has that weird, ugly transfer that everyone dislikes. I don't really have an opinion on that one. I think that's kind of what they were stuck with, and the extras are good, and I dunno if there's any chance of a better version ever appearing considering the director involvement with the transfer and his explanation of why it looks the way it does.

Darkman, Cat People and They Live are the infamous ones for getting really ugly, dated studio masters with lots of DNR and not much detail. I think better versions don't exist, but seem very likely if anyone ever rescans them. Some of the other releases are also kinda bad in the master department and/or have compression errors, but I think they're all at least acceptable. IIRC these three are the ones that only the least picky among us won't notice.

I wonder if Scream would rerelease those three DNR releases and give them a new scan. What would people say about that?
