I didn't care for it when I saw it theatrically, but now 20 years later, I like it. Go figure.

One criticism I see lobbied against it is Dennis Miller. He doesn't seem like he wants to be part of it. I remember him bothering me when I first watched it and it's the one thing I hear over and over again.

He definitely thought it was beneath him and was an ass on the set, but I don't think it hurts the movie. He does his usual stuff in the film, his lazy/snarky/a-hole routine is pretty established and not really any different in that movie. You either like his comedy or you don't.

I love the movie. But, the Blu-Ray's allure is the documentary. The actors detail what it was like working with Dennis Miller on the set. It also explains the fact that he only accepted the role, because they paid him $1 Million. Miller demanded $1 Million, with the thought that they would turn it down, and leave him alone. Low and behold, they really wanted him, and they did pay him.

People hardly ever saw him on the set. He showed up to do his lines, and bailed. All things considered, it's amazing that it turned out so well. If you haven't watched the documentary, then I highly recommend it. It was a tumultuous production.

Plus, the pre-order poster looks so awesome hanging on my wall.

Yeah Manhunter, Escape from NY, Jeepers Creepers, and previously Mad Max (now gone) were all stocked at my local Best Buy. I waited to long to buy Mad Max as the week I decided to finally grab it it was gone. Always nice to see some scream Factory titles being stocked, even if they are non horror and mainstream.

Which is odd considering Shout has been able to license certain TV series from Sony for DVD releases.

Black Christmas and House That Screamed announced for December. If we get Dead of Winter as well (we have to surely?), I'll be 3/3 on my predictions for that month. Bodes well for my 2017 guesses!

He has a disinterest that is like an extreme version of Bill Murray in "Ghostbusters", but it definitely works for *this* movie. Especially the ending; you can't have "Tales from the Crypt" without an ending like that, and you need a certain kind of protagonist for that ending. If he were more likeable, the ending would feel completely undeserved.

Anyone remember Miller on Monday Night Football? That had to have been one of the most bizarre experiments in the history of TV. Could you find a comedian more ill-fitting to call football games? Particularly the Miller of the 90s when his act was comprised of a bunch of esoteric references.

lol, I remember that. At that time of my life I didn't really care much about football.... and I still thought that was an extremely odd choice!

I loved Dennis Miller in the 90s. Back when he had that HBO show, Dennis Miller Live, I used to stay up late to watch it. As I teenager, I used to love all the esoteric references because it made me feel smart when I actually understood them.

But then 9/11 happened and Dennis Miller was never the same...

Oh yeah, Miller was good in the 80s and 90s. "The Off White" album and "They Shoot HBO Specials, Don't They?" are both great. I remember watching his HBO special in '06 or '07 and thought, "Man, it's depressing what's happened to this guy now." Dude went from being cutting-edge in the 90s to touring with Bill Effing O'Reilly. Real fall from grace.

Great news! Scream is now accepting preorders for THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED, and perhaps for BLACK CHRISTMAS as well. No specs will be announced until October, however.

He was always conservative though. If you watch youtube clips and such he had the same beliefs then, it was just okay to be on TV making conservative jokes back then. Now it gets you run out of town.

And paid. O'Reilly and Miller make bananas cash for their tour stops and appearances.

PS - The Off-White Album is fantastic stuff.
