Will do.

FYI: Slips aren't important to me, I see them as a bonus. It's what's on the disc that counts

No thanks. Leave those ones for a deluxe 20th Century Fox release. Keep Scream for horror films.

The Funhouse - $13.19
Sleepaway Camp - $15.74
They Live - $15.99

Thoughts?
Sleepaway Camp is a solid disc with a good new scan and solid special features. Movie holds up well if you like classic slashers. Good choice. They Live unfortunately has a processed old master, but it looks better than some others and of course is a classic film. Poster art on the reverse is excellent for both of these so who cares about slips?

I have never seen The Funhouse, which is a shame. Keep meaning to blind-buy the Arrow Video edition sometime.

The Funhouse I found to be a bit slow & boring TBH. I had the SF disc but sold it after seeing it once.

I got The Funhouse yesterday from Amazon and it still had one, strangely. It looks kind of beaten up, but I don't care.

I got The Funhouse about 2 years ago and it came WITHOUT a slip. Like someone else just said, I also found the film boring and slow and sold it.

I was underwhelmed by The Funhouse when I saw it on DVD years ago, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Last year, I sprung for the Blu-ray (with the slipcover in perfect condition, just for those who are wondering), and I really had a great time revisiting it. I guess that I'm more attuned to the sleazy drive-in stuff these days, and, as such, I found it to be a pretty awesome flick during my most recent viewing.

I love the Funhouse. It's got lots of great atmosphere, color, and plenty of WTF moments. Plus you get a Rick Baker monster. What's not to like?

For those who say Poltergeist is all Spielberg, you can really feel Tobe Hooper finding his early 80s style with Funhouse.

SLEEPAWAY CAMP is quite fun.

THE FUNHOUSE has great atmosphere, but no likeable or interesting characters.

Are the Amityville direct to TV sequels from the 1990s still owned by Lionsgate? I really hope they get released on blu-ray especially in the light of all the horrible Amityville films that came out recently that have really nothing to do with the Amityville franchise.

I'm under the impression Hemlock Grove wasn't licensed through Netflix. Gaumont, maybe?

Yeah, what's with those Amityville movies anyway? I keep seeing them pop up around the internet... Are they seriously official sequels? I assumed they were done by the same kinds of companies that produce movies like Independence Wars: Insurgence or The Ouija Experiment. You know, knock-off bargain bin stuff created purely to grab sales from buyers confusing it with the real thing.

A collector's edition of Stranger Things would be amazing!

This is kinda OT but if you were underwhelmed by The Funhouse, you might want to try the novel by "Owen West," AKA Dean Koontz. It builds a much more elaborate story around the characters, although the manner in which it connects them is more than a little preposterously contrived:
[Show spoiler]the mother of the heroine and her brother once had a baby with the carnival barker and killed it, for which the barker swore revenge by someday murdering her future children; the fortune teller regularly helps the barker find likely candidates for their monster-child Gunther to slaughter.

It's popular enough I am sure many labels will want to release it, but the question is how long will Netflix pay to keep their exclusivity because it drives subs. We'll be asking that question a lot in the coming years.

I don't think any of the Amityville films after the remake are official, something to do with Amityville being public domain. All I know is the films made after the remake are unwatchable and really bad. I'm hoping for some of the 90s Amityville films to be released on blu-ray to tie in with Amityville Awakening's theatrical release. Amityville 1992 and Dollhouse DVDs are getting expensive due to being OOP. I imported Amityville Collection from Spain which includes Amityville 1 and 2, 4, Curse, 1992 and A New Generation for about $20.

My guess would be that the Amittyville name is in the public domain, since it's a real place. So anyone can make a generic haunted house movie with that name in it. But rights to the specific peoples' story and details of the books/films are protected.

Most of the Amityville films are only loosely connected, at best, so it's kind of a moot point.

Amityville: The Evil Escapes (4), Amityville 1992: It's About Time (6),
Amityville: A New Generation (7) and Amityville Dollhouse (8) were all produced by Steve White and are intended to be a continuation of the original franchise. There are copyright records that Steve White had intended to produce his own Amityville V, but it doesn't appear that film was ever produced. Had it been produced, it appears that it would've contained footage taken from the 4th film and may have been a direct sequel. I would probably view this as a separate franchise, and not part of the original franchise.

The Amityville Curse (5) is separate from the Steve White produced films and probably shouldn't be officially recognized as being part of either Amityville franchise.

The Amityville Horror is an official remake of the original film.

Everything after 2005, thus far, is independent and should not be considered part of any any Amityville franchises.

THE FUNHOUSE is an exceptional horror film. This may sound a bit gauche, but I really think a lot of these films only work when you've got a big enough/decent enough TV and sound system and transfer to recreate a theater experience. I can absolutely see why THE FUNHOUSE could be boring/disinteresting to those who don't view it in a real home theater environment, as it very much relies on Tobe Hooper's atmosphere to build a quiet sense of dread. But there are some incredibly atmospheric/creepy visuals and music in that flick. That's just my opinion, though.
