I've seen those at my Walmart and a few others. My Best Buy usually carry a huge selection and often carry a lot of screams.

So did I. Their stock depends on local sales and demographics. Not every store carries the same stuff.
This. I've been to a few Walmarts around here and there is one in particular that carried those titles^.

My nearest Best Buy has had Return of the Living Dead, Manhunter, Escape from NY, Mad Max, Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2 (bought these from there), Army of Darkness, Bill & Teds Most Excellent Collection & all of the new release IFC films. And those are just the CE ive personally seen on the shelves, not sure if they've had more.

I hope Scream or Shout keeps putting out kung fu movies. I really dug the individual releases they did of those Bruce Lee titles. Much better than that box set.

So for any one that listens to Shock Waves the newest episode had effects artist Steve Johnson on it, they were discussing his contributions to the special features on Species 2 and at the end of the conversation he said "and they just contacted me to do some for Species". That seems to imply that Scream has contacted him to do interviews for Species release in the coming year. He didn't directly say Scream but it was part of the conversation that preceded it, take that for what you will.

Tales fromt he Hood is currently airing on The El Rey Network. It will be on later this evening and again tomorrow for those that want to check out the picture quality before the Blu Ray release. It's a HUGE upgrade over the old non-anamorphic dvd but still has some flaws inherent to it's budget/time. The picture can be a tad soft at times but the image has been surprisingly clean thus far with no sign of damage. To be 100% honest I'm curious if a bit of DNR has been applied. Obviously before anyone jumps to conclusions we should wait for the retail Blu Ray, but I feel like this broadcast presentation is a pretty good indicator of what to expect and overall I think folks will be happy. If I were to bet I'd say that this master was created years ago for when the Digital HD edition was released and it's likely what Scream Factory had to work with.

From Beyond is excellent. Jeffery Combs and Barbara Crampton are a horror fan's match made in heaven. Haven't yet watched Lifeforce so I can't comment on it.

Both were actually first time viewings after purchasing the Scream releases. From Beyond was awesome. Lifeforce is an interesting film for sure. That's not a put down. It's just absolutely insane. Like, everything and the kitchen sink was thrown into that movie. And the kitchen sink may have sprouted wings and teeth and flown away to feast on small children or something. It's crazy. Yet somehow, in someway, if you're up for, it manages to work. I personally loved the hell out of it!

Lifeforce is definitely insane. Such a mashup of great stuff, terrible stuff, exciting stuff and boring stuff. It's all over the place. The documentary on the Arrow release makes it pretty clear why that is.

SPECIES was just a matter of time. When it does come out through Shout I might grab the sequels. Or should I wait for a box set? Has Shout ever reissued anything in a collection after an initial release?

Was just going to say man, Naked Female Space Vampires. Can't go wrong. Movie was kick ass.

Hoping to get lawnmower man when it's up. That was kind of a misunderstood movie, but was well done to be a horror as well.

I'm honestly satisfied enough with the Japanese blu-ray (which is indeed an old transfer, but sports a much superior AVC encode).

As for Lawnmower Man, Director's Cut or no buy. It MUST have the Director's Cut at all costs.

It was High on my list of titles to pick up a few years back, but since then it's fallen quite a long ways down on my priority list. A big reason behind this is that for me I'm not a huge Tobe Hooper fan and often find his films to be a mixed bag. I'm always interested in his works, but they often don't quite resonate with me the same way that they do some other folks on the board. For now Lifeforce is on my list of films to purchase, but it's not a top priority.

I plan on getting Lifeforce at some point, but i'm most likely going to import the Arrow release as opposed to getting either version of the Scream Factory release.

Ditto with Motel Hell.

I've been hoping for a set of all of their Carpenter titles. I'd grab that in a heartbeat.

I agree on Hooper, and Life Force is a very flawed movie. People just like it anyway for a variety of reasons.

Yeah I love Lifeforce but I wouldn't call it a great film. It's just a wonderful experience to see Hooper be given more money than he should of to make Space Vampires and have it be as absurd and insane as you think it would be. His Cannon contract brought about some insanely fun films (TCM2 as well). I still haven't seen his remake of Invaders From Mars but I'll eventually pick that up.

Spontaneous Combustion is also a great entry in the "Crazy Tobe Hooper" run of films.
