Edit: I'd be fine with the 17.99 price on Collectors editions if shipping was included. Does Amazon do routine Scream Factory sales? I know that they've had a few in the past but I was always under the assumption that they were random and without any rhyme or reason as to when they would occur. Thanks to Arrow and the Vestron Line I have a nice little list of Scream Factory titles I'd be interested in if they ended up in a sale... never mind the new releases like Slumber Party Massacre II/III and Tales from the Hood which I don't have a problem paying full price for but just haven't gotten around to ordering.

Right now my priority is picking up the Phantasm set, but man a Scream Factory sale in May would be great as I believe I'd be able to throw quite a bit of money at it if the right titles were offered.

Well last May was the last time Amazon had a SF sale so I'm assuming they're going to do it again cause it's been a year and no other sales have happened. I remember they had a bunch of Collector Editions for 14.99

Yeah I remember that sale... can't believe it's been a year already, I was thinking it was in the fall. I believe I already owned all of the Collectors editions during last years sale and never picked anything up... but this year is a different story, off the top of my head...

-Black Christmas
-Poltergeist II/III
-Texas Chainsaw Massacre II
-The Exorcist III

would all be easy buys... and going back farther/non collectors editions...

-Swamp Thing
-Lifeforce
-Psycho IV
-Class of 1984
-Monkey Shines
-etc etc.

Yeah, I only picked up 4 titles during that sale. This time around I'll be picking up a bunch more, if indeed there is another sale that is.

If STRAIGHT-JACKET shows up on Blu, I suspect it will be from Mill Creek rather than Shout or Twilight Time, and more's the pity.

Mill Creek could become quite the sub label if it gets a hold of everything languishing in the Sony Archives and gives them affordable quality releases.

As I said before, If someone wasn't willing to spend that amount of money over the last 7 years, it's unlikely anyone is suddenly going to change their mind. Lowering the price point on a title after 7 years seems like a pretty sure fire way to ensure you can continue to sell copies.
I keep waiting to see From Beyond for less than $20 but not sure when it will ever happen. Will probably just give in someday. It's a new world with labels running the show, there's no incentive for huge discounts a lot of the time. You rarely see Criterions under $20 either. Arrow seems to be an exception.

I believe From Beyond was one of the $14.99 titles on Amazon last year so there is a chance it could see a nice dip again if another sale materializes. Outside of that however I can't say I've ever seen it under $20 again. I checked my records and I bought it for $21.50 in July of 2013.

I did give in and order From Beyond yesterday for $19 and change from Amazon.

I rented From Beyond on VHS back in 1988, and quite enjoyed it. I also enjoyed flirting with the clerk at the Movie Gallery when I returned the videotape and she was swooning about how much she loved the movie. It's not the greatest flick, but it's a lot of crazy 1980s over-the-top fun, and I've been on the fence about adding it to my Blu-ray collection for years. After watching the price for a while, I decided that I'd ultimately save time over money for no longer having to bother checking for the price time and time again.

The problem with playing Blu-ray releases like the stock market, as a lot of people here in this forum do, is that the releases sometimes go out of print, and the procrastinators are often driven to checking eBay to look for something that is now glorious unattainable. I'd rather just eat a brown bag lunch for a couple of days and pay the current Amazon price most of the time.

The biggest reason to own From Beyond is Barbara Crampton in a dominatrix outfit in HD. If there are others that don't own it already, there are no other reasons to consider, just do it...

Used the spring sale to preorder the July titles I want---WINDOWS, THE BAT PEOPLE, THE MAN FROM PLANET X, and the Spanish double feature. At least now I don't have to worry about those. They'll just appear in my mailbox in July.

I hit the Shout Factory Spring Fling sale to fill in the gaps of some films that I had not yet pre-ordered...

Dolls
Scorchy
The Night Of The Sorcerers
/The Loreley's Grasp
Game Of Death
Return Of The Dragon
The Bat People

$107 and change.

It's nice to have everything already pre-ordered and simplified.

Dolls is another film that I have been on the fence about for years now!

Wish I was pre-ordering type. I'd surely spring for those 4k Bruce Lees. But I aint. Too many issues, even from the likes of Criterion, so I gotta wait for folks like you to guinea pig it up.

EDIT: doesn't mean I don't have a full cart though...

The Shout Factory releases of Fists of Fury and The Chinese Connection have both earned high marks for picture quality, so I'm optimistic about these next two releases.

Even if they do have issues, the chance that the presentations will be better than my experiences watching these types of movies pan-and-scan on Kung Fu Theater before Elvira's Movie Macabre back in the early 1980s is probably 100%.

Thanks for the heads up, Owl, on this sale. Had no idea. Managed to fill in some gaps, too, and easily broke the 20% off hurdle. Best part is Shout didn't charge sales tax on this sale, which they usually charge for California. So that was a very nice surprise when checking out.

Dolls is a fun flick, I actually find it to be a better made film than Charles Band's other killer doll flick, Puppet Master, and I'm a huge fan of that series so that says something.

I'm one of the biggest proponents of paying up for catalog releases on this forum. However that doesn't mean that when I'm eyeing an older release I never got for one reason or another I don't wait for a sale, since they tend to happen. It's all about balance. Pay full price for some stuff, wait for a sale on other stuff. Very few can buy every single thing they're interested in every week at full price.

P.S. I thought Dolls was terrible and sold it, but my horror tastes are kind of a mess.

From Beyond and Demented both arrived in the mail today from Amazon Prime. I didn't realize that Amazon delivered on Sundays, so that's cool.

From Beyond did not come with a slipcover, but that's okay. I simply flipped the cover around to show the reverse art, because that's the artwork that I grew up seeing, so all is well.
