Paul Bartel's PRIVATE PARTS is an all-time favorite of mine. Seeing it in a small downtown hardtop theater in 1972, the "bloody doll" scene absolutely crocked the audience.

Later, in 1975, I screened the film as part of a campus film festival. Although most people in the audiences hadn't heard of it, the students loved the black humor and the creepiness of it. And yes, the bloody doll scene did provoke a few walkouts from the audience. Now, 45 years later, the scene isn't as shocking as it was back in the seventies. But, I'd bet that the students who saw it on campus would still remember it today.

The sudden appearance of Stanley Livingston got a lot of laughs, because the 70's college kids all remembered him playing "Chip Douglas" on MY THREE SONS.

A line of dialog ("Alice doesn't live here anymore!") also drew unintended laughs, due to the 1974 Martin Scorsese film which had recently played theaters.

Here's hoping that Scream Factory is aware of PRIVATE PARTS (1972).

So, Warner released a ton of titles on DVD back on 10/4/2005. Check out this pattern:

The 7th Victim
Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero - BD from WAC 3/27/18
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm - BD from WAC 7/25/17
Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman - BD from WB 3/12/13
Bedlam
The Body Snatcher
Cat People - BD from Criterion 9/20/17
The Curse of the Cat People - BD from SF 6/12/18
Demon Seed - BD from WAC 3/14/17
Dracula A.D. 1972
The Ghost Ship
Isle of the Dead
I Walked with a Zombie
The Leopard Man
Night of the Lepus - BD from SF 6/5/18
Private Parts
A Stranger Is Watching

Probably not all, but I gotta think a few of these other titles released on DVD on that same date in 2005 are in the pipeline for SF, Criterion or WAC.

I saw on Twitter that SF’s Jeff Nelson is the guest on the newest “Dead For Filth” podcast.

Just watched the DVD of this last week. That scene still got a "what the f@@k?!" from me...good film, not the weirdest or creepiest but certainly plenty of those and very memorable. I'd imagine it weirded people out back when it released, though.

So, I just got around to watching my copy of Gate II, and while it looks and sounds great, there seems to be an audio dropout during the scene where John & Moe are driving around with the minion in the sack.

It happens 49 minutes and 52 seconds in.

It only lasts for about three seconds, but it's very noticeable. Has anyone else encountered this, or could I just have a defective copy?

Thanks!

Who's up for Alien Nation in a CE with 2K remastering even Dr Giggles and Cobra in both CEs?

I watched this the other night and didn’t notice any audio dropouts.

Btw, what a truly terrible film and an extremely poor follow-up to its predecessor. It was slightly better than C.H.U.D. II for me, and I really dislike that movie.

It was awful - completely lacking even one shred of the charm, heart, or inventiveness that made the original so enjoyable. A completely rote, pointless, colorless, and unnecessary sequel, and one of the worst Part IIs I have ever sat through. Five minutes in, I thought 'I'm going to be selling this', and nothing that followed over the proceeding 90 minutes made me reconsider this decision in the least. I immediately put it up for resale on Amazon.

Great news about Ninja 3! I had been meaning to pick up a copy for a while but just forgot about it. Definitely getting this new Collectors Edition.
Pretty neat that it’s being released almost exactly 5 years(and one day) from the original SF release.

I have no idea what Troll 2 was going for, but that isn't the example I'd have come up with! It's not remotely as bad as Troll 2 on any level, but I can't even process what Troll 2 is to horror enough to tell you if this is accurate!!

I'd say the tone's more like something like Commando, where it's obvious that the people making it knew how silly it was, but it's mostly filmed as if it was a serious movie with one-liners and really silly/stupid events (hello, V8). It veers into supernatural events with exorcisms and all.

I think it's a bit more self-aware than something like Death Wish 3 or Invasion USA. It's not as awful as a Troma movie or a Troll 2. But I don't think anyone involved with it thought they were making Enter the Dragon. It's outrageous and fun, not a stupid winking parody.

I'm down for a collectors edition of Cobra if somehow the guys from Scream Factory could get an on-camera interview with Stallone, now that would be GOLD !

I'd love to have a release of Dr. Giggles in the original aspect ratio.

Me too and maybe with extras too even possible 2K.

Cobra with 4K or 2K restoation in a Collector's edition would be badass with deleted scenes, commentaries, interviews, featurette, trailers, TV spot, poster-and-still gallery and all that stuff.

Beetlejuice Collector's Edition would be the bomb with 4K or 2K restoration and extras abound like commentary, deleted scenes, featurettes even vintage ones, trailers, TV spots and more.

Tell ya one thing, if Paramount ever decides to open the floodgates and we see titles like April Fool's Day or Let's Scare Jessica To Death on BD I'm going to have to find myself another hobby. My collection will be near complete
I hear you. Paramount is sitting on a ton of titles, not just horror. They have just as many classic films as every other major studio, but their Blu-ray releases (especially horror) are incredibly scarce. All it takes is one guy with the right connection to get the doors open. I truly hope that Scream can one day gain access to the Paramount catalog, which they're obviously doing nothing with. Titles like the Stepford Wives, Let's Scare Jessica to Death, Body Parts, April Fool's Day (I'll take the remake, too), My Bloody Valentine, the Dead Zone, Silver Bullet, Graveyard Shift, Fire in the Sky, and many others. I have the foreign edition Blu-rays of several of these, but I'd happily re-buy any U.S. release in a collector's edition. And I know we talk about this again and again on this forum, but hopefully one day it will all pay off.

With the deal with WB, I'd love to see Scream Factory put out a Collector's Edition of Razorback.

And yes, I know Umbrella is working on their own release but I likes me my Region 1 releases. No giant, ugly ratings symbols for one thing...

AFAIK, they don't have The Stepford Wives. They licensed it to put out the DVD when the remake came out.

I'd kill for Let's Scare Jessica to Death, though.
