So this is way off topic to the Scream Factory thread but seeing as the amount of crap that was given in this thread I feel like it's the most appropriate place to comment. I noticed that DenofEarth was banned sometime yesterday or today... I have no idea why he was banned but my guess is that a fair number of members were flagging his posts out of sheer annoyance. I can't state with any kind of certainty that he wasn't here just to spam the board, nor can I say that his ban is completely undeserved given how annoyed some of the folks around here seemed to get when he posted. What I can say however is that the way his posts read and the various interactions I had with him over the last year or so lead me to believe that there is a very very good chance he may have had a form of Aspergers (a mild form of Autism). I didn't feel it appropriate to speculate when he was here in the event I was wrong as he often times took enough crap as it was, but with him being banned I do feel like it's worth pointing out that the way he posted and "conversed" with others was more or less exactly like many of the hundreds of experiences I've had with Aspergers and/or Autism. In my line of work I tend to spend a lot of my time working with folks with similar diagnosis and the patterns I observed here were consistent with many of the interactions I've had over the years. To give you an idea... here's some of the noted charactoristics...

Quote:
-conversations that almost always revolve around self rather than others.
-"scripted," "robotic," or repetitive speech.
-a lack of "common sense"
I mention this not because I feel he needs to be unbanned, or in any sort of an effort to drum up sympathy as I really don't know what caused the ban, but rather to point out that sometimes the folks appearing to be trolling here really may not be.

I have no doubt that at least a few folks will be happy to see him gone. I've noticed that the number of active users these days that regularly post here seems to be dwindling however as many of the threads I frequent are often filled with the same handful of voices, and so anytime anyone is banned I'm always a bit disappointed irregardless of how annoying they may have been.

I really don't have a point to this post... we've all taken and given our fair share of shit on these boards but this was one of the unique situations where I feel like there was more going on behind the screens than what may have been apparent to folks that haven't had experience in the area and so I felt it appropriate to at least say something.

Cant help but feel bad for him. I don't know what he was banned for or regardless if he deserved it or not. I just feel like we took a little bit of happiness away from this guys life. Even with amount of hate he was facing, he'd be right on to another topic of something he was passionate (maybe a little too passionate) about.

I use iTunes for individual songs I want but if it's an album by someone I really like or a film score, then it's the CD for me as well.

I continue to buy cd's on occasion as well though not like I used to. Shortly after last Christmas I went to one of the local Goodwill stores that specialize in electronics however and found a pioneer PD-f908...

...in great used condition for only $20. It was apparently owned by some older lady as the inside of the unit smells of grandma perfume. The unit operates flawlessly and was incorporated into my audio setup. Its inclusion renewed my interest in audio and I spent quite a bit of time pulling albums to be included in the player. All of my music is already backed up digitally and can be played at a moments notice via my plex server, but using this players DAC and adjusting my setup for audio rather than movies made for a very enjoyable audio experience.

Being a bit of an electronics junkie helped too as I love finding deals on older equipment like this.

I don't buy CDs often unless I'm a big fan and want to support the artist. I recently purchased the new Chvrches album and it was well worth the $13 I spent.

I always figured he was a guy in his early teens, like 13, 14, who was just over excited about movies in general. But your assessment might be right.

During my six years as a member of Blu-ray.com, I’ve never reported a post or put anyone on an Ignore list.

That’s not to say that I’ve never been offended or annoyed here. I just prefer to embrace the notion of tolerance and understand that it’s not all about me.

Even when someone specifically insults me on the forum, I just sort of shrug it off and move on with my life. If the person has a valid reason for venting against me (and that’s often the case), then I’ll try to change my behavior accordingly.

I figure that the moderators here are busy enough dealing with genuinely problematic issues (spambot advertisement posts, lewd NSFW images, etc.) without having to take time investigating a post that I might have overreacted to when I happened to be on a princess throne one day.

2 coasters for 25 bucks instead of one. Nice.

Both parts 2 & 3 are also more deserving of a double dip than most of what Scream Factory released last year... Land of the Dead, Drag me to Hell, The Strangers, Trick R Treat, Dawn of the Dead etc all already had feature rich regular editions. Child's Play 2 & 3 have only ever had bare bones releases. At this point I don't really care who put's them out, so long as they happen. Scream Factory editions would be great in that they'd appear uniform on my shelf... Arrow editions would come with superior packaging, booklets, posters and a lower price. 2 Months ago I was all about Scream Factory releasing these two films... now I'm hoping Arrow does them proper.
Child's Play 2 is an underrated sequel, but I don't know if I would called it easily the better film or as good. It is better than it should be given how little talent the people in the movie have. It is largely a rehash.

It is very apparent that the rules have changed. A lot of us became comfortable pre-ordering upon announcement while knowing that the final price would drop. And wouldn't you know it, it's largely the companies spouting limited slipcovers that are keeping prices high. Buy it right away or risk not getting your slipcover! (I personally don't care about slipcovers but I don't like the market manipulation towards those that do).

I'll buy at whatever price appeals to me. You all buy at whatever price appeals to you. We all have the right to complain that the rules have changed. But nobody here knows what anyone else's budget is, so please keep the judgments about others to yourselves.

What really concerns me most is the potential harm for future niche titles due to poor or slow sales due to inflated prices. Historically speaking for most markets, higher prices always translate to less units sold.
Higher prices means I buy less titles or wait until sales hit. Double dips are a factor also. I can't justify paying 25 bucks for double dips of The Strangers, Dawn of the Dead and Land of the Dead. Not without a big effort like their release of Creepshow appears to be.

I've seen newer cover art where the spine of TCM4 does NOT say 2-discs. So I'm really confused. I feel like we should be getting an update soon about what's on the actual disc. Maybe that's what the delay was about? Securing more extras or the extended cut in better quality?

Amazon Prime is a Godsend. For someone like me who hates shopping in B&Ms a premium shipping service like Prime is like winning a small lottery. The only downside is ordering from places that take their time to ship will be a tougher sell. MUCH tougher lol. A quick story about buying stuff from stores. The other day I was shopping for a magnetic calendar for my fridge and stopped into a Staples. They had a bunch of them but not the one I wanted. I go home and go to Amazon. Within 4 minutes I find the one I need, click Purchase and done! Someone will hand it to me on Tuesday. Totally worth the hundred bucks annual fee and then some.

I still buy CD's regularly and listen to 99% of music on my 5 Disc Changer/my car CD Player. The only time I use my digital library (which I maintain meticulously per my OCD) is at work thanks to Google Play letting you stream your iTunes library anywhere without having the files on your device.

Back to Scream: Watched Sleepaway 1 and 2 last night (spurred by the great writeups recently). I had a new fascination with the Judy character knowing Jane Krakowski almost played her!

We’re not supposed to be discussing suspended/banned members, but I looked up what happened, and he was suspended for using foul/threatening language in a post in this thread against other members. He’ll be back in the near future.

And now let’s get back to bashing Scream Factory.
