Amazon is doing something they normally don’t do, which is price matching Barnes & Noble. B&N is doing something they normally don’t do, which is pricing SF titles decently.

The Evil arrived at my doorstep today.

I could have sworn that I had ordered Scream for Help as well, but I checked back on my Shout Factory order history, and found that I actually neglected to order it. My guess is that I was putting other items in my cart, and somehow missed over adding this one and forgot to double-check. I just remedied this, so I'll have the Blu-ray in the not-too-distant future.

"all-new High-Def transfer", hope it looks better than the Millenium release, which really isn't too bad, but, I think it could look better. Thinking about pre-ordering this, $28.43 seems abit high, but, when you do a preorder with Scream Factory, do you pay the posted price at the time of preorder, or if the price drops before the release date, will you pay the lower price ? Anyone know ?

You pay the posted price. I’m going to wait until the poster sells out, since it’s only included with the first 500 copies, before I preorder. I have no interest in the poster, and once it sells out it should drop in price some, at least that’s what happened with Creepshow and Return of the Living Dead 2. I just like to get their titles a few weeks early.

The [Rec] Collection is now $44.06 on Amazon. Fair price for that 4 film set. Not sure who they're price matching or what's going on at the moment as pricing seems to be all over the place with any number of titles.

I'd say $22 apiece for Rec 1 and 2 is fair along with two bonus movies.

That's a very fair price - and a far cry from $59.99 where it sat until recently. Preordered.

Indeed. I pre-ordered as well.

I'm curious to see if this ends up in Best Buy. It's a modern film franchise with no prior Blu Ray release that could make the retail cut. I still can't believe that "It's Alive" made it to stores (Saw two copies of the collection myself today at Best Buy).

They’re matching Barnes & Noble, which they typically don’t do. These preorder prices at B&N are abnormally low (for them).

The split second that The [REC] Collection showed up on the Shout Factory site, I pre-ordered it for $47.97.

Amazon saves a few bucks, usually, but only a few. I don't feel slighted in the slightest. Haha.

At any rate, the asking price on Amazon right now is not only fair, it's pretty awesome.

I'm actually expecting the price to drop even further. Maybe as low as $34.99. But if it doesn't I'll be happy with the current price

I recommend that anybody who even remotely does business with Amazon shell out the annual fee to be a Prime member.

With Amazon Prime, you can just pre-order a title months in advance, and you'll only be charged the lowest price from that interval of time. Prime folks can order the set today for $44 and, if it goes down to $34.99, then that's icing on the cake.

That and the fact that Amazon tends to treat non-Prime customers like an afterthought.

I'm hoping for a $39.99 price. A $34.99 price would feel like a steal but I'm not expecting it. If the price went down $2 more though I'd be happy. With Taxes I'm sitting at $47, so a flat $45 would make me happy.

I agree, I was late to the Amazon Prime party, having only joined 2.5 years ago, and while I haven't pre-ordered a lot, in the last 2 years my use has steadily increased.

Eff that. I cancelled Prime last week. I got tired of literally everything showing up in cheap envelopes, with torn/missing slipcovers, broken cases, 4 movies being shoved into a single envelope, broken CD cases, seamsplits on vinyl sleeves from them shipping them in oversized boxes, ect, ect, ect.

I'll spend the extra $5 and just order from Shout or DiabolikDVD.

This is exactly why I order elaborate box sets from Diabolik and Shout.

That said, I’ve been lucky with Amazon in this regard. Even the big Powerhouse/Indicator box sets that I order from Amazon UK tend to show up in great condition.
My only beef with Amazon is that, when I order CDs, the plastic jewel boxes are sometimes jacked up. (I still buy music on CD. Insert laughter and finger-pointing here.)
