I'm hoping for THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, a bond fide Hammer classic.

I got a good laugh at the 5% sale. Luckily, I do not have any interest in ordering from Shout directly.
Most of their sales are a joke, and their customer service is shit. On a brighter note: I am happy that we are getting "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires" on blu ray. |

Only thing I ever bought on Shout's site was the limited edition of Deathstalker, because I had to. I know labels make more on their own sites, but it's just too inconvenient, the prices were higher and the shipping costs are often much higher than other stores. They should be more competitive if they want to switch people over.
Shout's answer seems to be to raise prices everywhere to make their prices more attractive. Who knows how well that's working. |

For anyone wanting to check out Valentine or Urban Legends: Final Cut they are both streaming for free on VUDU if you watch with commercials. I believe there’s other scream titles streaming free as well including both Return of the Living Dead films!

Man, some of y'all are truly missing out on some great horror by dismissing the Hammer titles.

Funny you mention that, as I feel pretty much the same. I dig a few of the Hammer titles, but after a while it seems like I am watching the same movie.. Glad fans are getting their fill, but glad my wallet will be lighter too.

...Now, that statement should be qualified in that I’m judging it by the standard of his other 80’s Cannon films, not by the films he did in prior decades, which is a...different quality standard. By “best”, I mean most entertaining (I also consider Death Wish 3 one of his “best” of this period, if that puts it in perspective). It’s pretty much an 80s slasher film smooshed together with a Bronson “cop who plays by his own rules” film. If that sounds appealing to you, then 10 to Midnight is probably the ideal version of that kind of movie. |

Broke down and placed an order from Shout Factory directly:
Saturday the 14th The Plague of the Zombies Obsession - Collector's Edition Howling III: The Marsupials Got all 4 for $94.43 with Free Shipping. Paid roughly $22 for the standard releases and $27 for the Collector's Edition, but I did get the poster as well. $27 is a tad high on the Collector's Edition but I feel $22 for the standards is reasonable as I used to pay around $20 for them so a $2 increase doesn't bother me much, although some titles would dip down to $17-18, especially older 1950s titles. I will probably order once or twice a month to get Free Shipping, because buying 1 title won't get you the Free Shipping and then the price is too high. In the end I don't like that they've raised prices everywhere to make their own prices at their website the cheapest option, but as a collector I really want the stuff they are putting out and I'm going to try and get back into getting the stuff I want. Especially the Hammer titles. Still not double or triple dipping for Steelbook re-releases and films that have great Blu-rays already. |

Personally, I'm not being dismissive of Hammer, since I love pretty much anything horror, for me it's just a matter of the era. Films pre-1975 just aren't my cup of tea, generally, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a fun, well-made horror film regardless of when it was made. My collection attests to that. It's just preferences, that's all.
