It would be one thing if boutique blurays were only sold in brick and mortar and you may not have access to some, but I don't understand brand loyalty. If a movie looks good, buy it regardless of the company.

Yeah, I don't understand the brand loyalty stuff. Regardless of its Criterion, Kino, Arrow, or even smaller labels by all means buy it especially to support physical media. The trick is to shop around for the best price. Though, I usually get my Arrow releases from Diabolik and am willing to pay more for peace of mind. Though I will say I don't buy nearly anything from Amazon anymore as there prices have got a lot worse. If the movie looks good then buy it regardless of the label.

The Collector's Edition items are where I tend to get hit the hardest, especially since I usually give away my posters, but it's only a couple of dollars here or there, and I like to support the company directly.

It's also a trouble-free endeavor. If I order a big batch of titles, then Shout ships them all to me separately as they are released with no charges.
Yeah I can see how it works out to be about the same, and some just have much more disposable income to devote to movies than others. If they did another big sale + coupon like last summer I'd pre-order some too.

I only buy a few titles a month though and with Shout's recent price hikes I'm spending less with them. The Thing steel book went on sale recently and I snagged that up. I'll get some of their Hammer titles if they go on sale or there's coupons. I'd just rather save up for VS's Black Friday/half-black Friday sales and get more movies for my bucks.

My point is that I'd cry if Shout/Scream Factory got any more titles than they do.

I buy from all labels. That is like me saying that I would only date or bang women of 1 nationality, back in my single days. Why limit yourself, when you can have them all?

I needed a Shout Factory fix so I "gave in" and purchased the REC box set direct from them. Used some paypal credit I had so damage was minimized. Pleasantly surprised to see that the material they used for the box is very high quality unlike the thin paper-like stuff used for the It's Alive trilogy. I'd already owned the OK Canadian edition of this set so the doube dip wasn't really necessary but, like I said, I needed a fix

Never going to buy any of those old 50's rubber suit monster flicks, though. I really hope we start seeing some newer stuff soon.

This probably makes the least sense to me in regards to collecting. You're perfectly fine not owning your favorite titles if SF didn't release them?

I love Shout/Scream too, but if a movie I want is released by another label, I'm not going to pass it up. That's just silly.

Surely at least a couple of the confirmed/rumoured titles can't be far away:

Fear No Evil
Vice Squad

Freaked
Fade to Black

The Terminator
Curse of Frankenstein & Crescendo
Hard to Die/Sorority House Massacre II (not sure what's going on with this)

In addition, at least one from the Hammer deal is inevitable (hopefully The Abominable Snowman or X: The Unknown), while more Val Lewton seems likely at some point.

I'm hoping to see more Warner and StudioCanal titles.

It's an overall improvement in most areas IMHO but the detail is very bizarre. The Universal release has better general detail but the 4K has better detail in some other areas of the transfer. It's one of the strangest transfer situations I've ever seen. I do recommend it though.

I'd definitely buy Feardotcom & Scared to Death (still have to see its sequel Syngenor). I might also get Stay Alive but I'd need to watch my DVD copy again to see if it's something I really want to upgrade.

Is that what Syngenor is? I have yet to see it but i have it on a HD somewhere. I also saw there was a blu ray available. I'm going to have to give it a watch tonight.

I watched scared to death a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it.

I love those movies, you are missing out on some really fun movies to watch. But, I do understand that some genres just are not interesting to other people.
