It really does look like it's something with MGM based on all the titles that have gone OOP recently.

I've been wanting The Amityville Horror but don't care for the box set because I only want the first movie. I know Scream has what looks like some nice bonus features but is there any difference in PQ between Scream's disc and MGM's own or is it the same transfer?

Only positive here is seeing Attack and The Hills Run Red going back to MGM, hopefully Kino can grab those.

The first Amityville could certainly use a fresh remaster. Considering the film spawned a bunch of sequels, is fairly popular and people seem to eat up anything supernatural, chances are good a remaster will happen.

Man that's a lot of titles going OOP. Guess I better pick up the Amityville trilogy here pretty soon. I only really want part 2 though but I wouldn't mind owning part 1 as well. Who knows if remasters will come out too though. Ugh!

There will be more and I'll share what I can when, and if, I can. I don't want to jump the gun and give false information as we're actively trying to renew.

Please excuse my ignorance as I'm newer here and I'm sure others here already know this answer, but...to ask the obvious...I assume you are a Shout employee?

Could be they are not selling good anymore, so why keep them in print. That is what Kino is doing now.

He is a Shout employee. From his post history:

I wanted to clear up a few things on this board as there seems to be some confusion.

1: There are 3 versions being produced: 6 DVD version set with all episodes, 7 DVD version set with all episodes + bonus features, and 7 Blu-ray set with all episodes + bonus features. So the only way to get the set on Blu-ray is to go with the 7 disc version. The 6 DVD version is a B&M play only for people who want just a basic version.

2. The 7 disc versions are not LE. They will be sold in this configuration for the life of the project.

3. We do not have any other deals with Disney right now. I helped to bring Gravity Falls to Shout Factory, and that was quite difficult to do. My hope is that if this is a successful enough project, that it will open the doors to other Disney properties. Believe me, I want to see shows like DuckTales, Gummi Bears, TaleSpin, and many others completed on DVD.

I'm happy to answer questions people may have, though bear in mind there are certain things I cannot divulge at this time, and some I probably won't ever be able to. But please feel free to ask and I'll answer what I can.

And if this helps verify what I'm saying, here's me reaching out to creator Alex Hirsch a year ago to get his help in releasing the show:

In case someone's missed out on getting these and the price already skyrocketed, here's a list of alternate Blu-Ray releases for some of the OOP titles.

*
**

*Includes The Last Man On Earth, The Tomb Of Ligiea, and the Dr. Phibes movies
**Includes Return Of The Fly

Leviathan and Amityville Horror 2 are pretty much the only titles I'm interested in that might be going OOP.

How many of those Blu-rays have DVD counterparts?

The only ones I'm missing are I Madman, Garbage Pail Kids, Disturbing Behavior, Dead of Winter, and Stigmata. I just ordered I Madman because it sounded interesting - would I regret passing any of the other four? I don't want GPK.
