super neat that Shout! Factory reached out and handled this, Disney's vehemently against doing season/series sets for their animated shows and I imagine it was nothing short of a miracle for Hirsch to get them to agree to this. can't wait to pick it up and I hope it's enough of a success to get other series the same treatment too

Excellent news! I certainly hope this bodes well to see more Disney television properties hit Blu-ray or even DVD from Shout.

I never thought this would happen. I always considered getting the DVDs but couldn’t bring myself to knowing the inherent quality.

Probably the best, smartest animated series of all time and probably my favorite one too. And just in general a great sci-fi series that I was surprised at times that it was aimed at kids (and airing on Disney XD nonetheless).

Let’s hope it has at least decent quality. Definitely getting it though as long as they don’t botch it up.

Edit: that is a really high price for two seasons. Still getting it though, lol, as long as the quality is good.

Any chance we could get Courage the Cowardly Dog on blu-ray too ?

As much as I want this, $80 for 40 20-ish minute episodes is a little steep... If they're calling it a collector's edition then it probably has some extra stuff (like one of the journals or something?) that I just wouldn't want to clutter up the space I have, so if they were to releases a normal edition with just discs I'd be all over that.

Shout's official press release explicitly states that the 7th disc is a bonus exclusively for the collector's edition and that a 6-disc edition is coming to retail later:

Like the case with 99% of MSRP's, it'll be cheaper at various retailers down the line. Expect it to be around $50 or so eventually on Amazon.

Oh hey Shout Kids why don't you do BD seasons of MLP? Oh wait...Chris refuses to do so.

I'll be getting GF as I really enjoyed the show. Maybe if we are lucky we'll get more shows. Like Phineas and Ferb and or Star Versus the Forces of Evil.

Hmm just noticed the price. And will wait for the non LE version. $80 is to high for me.

My second favorite TV Show of all time! I've already pre-ordered this from Shout! Factory's website. I really hope we get an announcement on the bonus features ASAP!

MIWinfamous, I'm guessing it wasn't cheap to license this from Disney, hence the high list price.
I would love to see a Phineas and Ferb Complete Series on Blu-ray so much! Let's hope Shout! Factory can get the rights to release it!

Since the show has 137 episodes, it would be expensive for Shout! to make. But since P&F is my favorite show ever, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

I’m utterly shocked. I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get this on blu, one of my my favorite shows of all times. Disney licensing this out to shout is a real game changer

I'd love DtB, even on DVD lol I found it late when Disney aired reruns at like 1am and liked it a lot.

Ok, cool. I'll just get the general release. I wouldn't mind the bonus disc but I doubt I'd ever even watch much if any of the bonus features. The box still looks a little large even for just 7 discs, like some kind of collectible stuff is included but that could just be how they made the image,

Shout released complete series DVD set of Hey Arnold and Wild Thornberrys which were 100 episodes and 91 episodes and a bunch of other Nickelodeon shows, I don't think 137 is TOO expensive. Unless Disney shows would cost more in licensing fees lol

I do hope this eventually leads to more Disney shows and maybe DCOMs on BD. Give me a Zenon 3 movie set

WOW! I was not expecting this AT ALL. I wonder if this is a one-off or if Shout does now have a deal with Disney for their shows. If it's the latter then I hope we'll get DuckTales (old and new) and Star Vs. The Forces of Evil on Blu someday (among many others).

The fact that Shout is even releasing a complete animated series on Blu-ray at all does renew my hope for a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic boxset someday. From what I've noticed, they tend to favour complete series box sets to individual seasons, so maybe they'll release one for MLP eventually, perhaps in 2020 as it's reportedly ending after the ninth season and that year also marks the show's 10th anniversary.

Hirsch's comments on his Twitter seemed to indicate he personally worked very hard to make this set happen. It's definitely unprecedented, but now that Shout! has their foot in the door with Disney (and that it's almost a guarantee this set will be a huge success) I hope we see more cooperation from them.

Hey all! I've been working at Shout for 6 years and this is my first producing project for the company. I've got a few more in the pipeline for the company as well. I know you have no reason to believe what I'm saying, so I'm hoping that over time I can gain your trust.

I wanted to clear up a few things on this board as there seems to be some confusion.

1: There are 3 versions being produced: 6 DVD version set with all episodes, 7 DVD version set with all episodes + bonus features, and 7 Blu-ray set with all episodes + bonus features. So the only way to get the set on Blu-ray is to go with the 7 disc version. The 6 DVD version is a B&M play only for people who want just a basic version.

2. The 7 disc versions are not LE. They will be sold in this configuration for the life of the project.

3. We do not have any other deals with Disney right now. I helped to bring Gravity Falls to Shout Factory, and that was quite difficult to do. My hope is that if this is a successful enough project, that it will open the doors to other Disney properties. Believe me, I want to see shows like DuckTales, Gummi Bears, TaleSpin, and many others completed on DVD.

I'm happy to answer questions people may have, though bear in mind there are certain things I cannot divulge at this time, and some I probably won't ever be able to. But please feel free to ask and I'll answer what I can.

And if this helps verify what I'm saying, here's me reaching out to creator Alex Hirsch a year ago to get his help in releasing the show:

That's great man! The release will have additional audio tracks? like Latin American Spanish audio?, that dub is so good, that will be big selling point. Thanks!

We will only have English audio and subtitles. Sorry, we can't provide alternate language tracks or subs.
