Great announcements. Never bought Ghost Ship before.
Not many Universal Horror titles left to go. Though with Shadow of the Cat being included makes me wonder if Nightmare, Night Creatures, and Paranoiac could end up in a future set since Shout has already reissued half of the films from Universal's Hammer Blu-ray and surely they plan to do a CE for Brides of Dracula.
Hopefully they'll start going after Sony's Hammer titles after that.

I really hope that’s not it for the month. A bit of a let down if so. Still June and July were great months.

And some more Warner fillers which have already been released on Blu Ray. Where are the Warner titles people have been asking about endlessly like Deadly Friend, Alone in the Dark, He knows you're alone etc.?

I'm hoping for an announcement of the 2005 remake of "House of Wax" soon since they're picking off these late 90's/early 2000's Dark Castle films. Oooh, and "Gothika" too.

Cult of the Cobra!

You people can go ahead and stick a fork in me right now. I've been waiting for this movie to hit Blu-ray for ages.

Faith Domergue (This Island Earth, It Came from Beneath the Sea, Where Danger Lives) is a sight for sore eyes in this movie, and the seductive cover art with her character does not oversell the movie in the slightest. I'll probably watch this Blu-ray every day for a whole month.

I'm on cloud 999 after reading this announcement.

This is a great movie! This whole collection looks awesome! But I'm really thrilled about The Thing That Couldn't Die. Can't believe we're finally getting this.

I have a question about the Universal Horror Collection;
Did the slipcover/slipbox was limited to the first 3 month like the others collector's edition or it's part of the package? If I order the first volume will I received it?

I’m in for Ghost Ship, just because I don’t have the previous release. Even though it will sit on a shelf so it doesn’t matter too much, it does have a pretty awesome cover too.

The Dark Castle films were always something I looked forward to when they were coming out-- most of them were disappointing overall.

Even the ones I liked were not as good as I was hoping for (13 Ghosts, House On Haunted Hill, House Of Wax) but Ghost Ship is clearly the worst as far as I'm concerned.

I guess anything is possible.

Epic fail on Screams part missing a opportunity to do another Hammer SE.
Barbara Shelley is understandably alarmed.

Wow, a great set of announcements for August so far. Not too familiar with Ghost Ship but I'm definitely in for another CE Universal Hammer film, The Phantom of the Opera.

And definitely the four films in the Universal Horror Collection 6 are a must for classic horror fans. I know that a lot of people have been expecting that The Black Castle would be on this set. And it indeed it is a surprise, as BarnDoor said, that Hammer's Shadow of the Cat is included here, but very glad it's finally getting a blu-ray release!

Could it be that Scream Factory will plan a Universal Horror Collection 7 with the two remaining Universal Hammer b&w titles Nightmare and Paranoiac? Anything can happen!

And also slated for August is Tales from the Darkside! Looks to be a good month for many of us!

So, the only upgrade to Blu that is missing from the Karloff Collection DVD is The Strange Door. I thought they were in chronological order after the first set? Black Castle is listed as a 1952 release and Door as a 1951 release.

One title I would still like to see released is The Spider Woman Strikes Back. Watched it for the first time recently on youtube (it was a terrible presentation) but it was a pretty good movie.

The Strange Door has already been released individually by Kino Lorber.

It would be absolutely pointless for Scream to bundle Paranoiac, Nightmare and Night Creatures on a prospective seventh volume, given they're already available on a (much cheaper and bigger) set. If they are going to give these the double dip treatment (and it remains a big if in my book), it surely can only be of the Collector's Edition variety.

For the foreseeable future I very much expect this to be be the final Universal Classic Horror volume. This includes all of Scream's 50s titles and even a 60s title. We know Kino have Curse of the Undead and Dark Intruder, so Scream can't go any 'further'. As for the rest, I think we're looking at this:

Murder by the Clock (Paramount)
Secret of the Blue Room
Terror Aboard (Paramount)
Double Door (Paramount)
Menace (Paramount)
The Mystery of Edwin Drood
The Missing Guest
The Mystery of Marie Roget
Flesh and Fantasy
One Body Too Many (Paramount)
The Man In Half Moon Street (Paramount)
The Unseen (Paramount)
The Cat Creeps
Curucu, Beast of the Amazon

Problem here is that many of these didn't get a DVD release from Universal, so almost all would require new HD masters, and that's only viable if the materials are in decent shape. When asked about 30s and 40s Universal horror, the Kino Insider had this to say:

Quote:
Originally Posted by Kino Lorber Insider

He has said that Kino 'may have' a 30s title, which will very likely be either The Mystery of Edwin Drood or Secret of the Blue Room. And when you take one of those out of the equation, the prospect of another Scream set diminishes further. Supposing that they don't have any of the above under licence, if they were to go back to Universal for another deal, would they be inclined to pursue any of these? Given that the Universal catalogue has been nigh-on exhausted but for double-dips, I'd venture that if they can't get Tremors, or any of the Jaws and Child's Play sequels, they'd be unlikely to bother with another Universal deal at all (though that's not discounting the possibility that they may have a few more potential double-dip CE's under licence, Hammer titles notwithstanding).
