Maybe they'll resurrect them 20 years from now like they've done with Vestron and come up with a specialty line and release 1 or 2 titles every 2 years.

On the youtube show Don May Jr was on last week he mentioned one of the reasons Anchor Bay died was they were buying all the rights to movies that were over priced and not selling well. So it sounds like they owned the US rights to a lot of stuff. Not sure where that falls now though.

Lol sounds like what Bill Olsen is currently doing but Bill made a few bigger mistakes. I don't recall what he paid for the rights to The Farmer but it was a fairly high figure and he never even released the damned thing. He also quotes all kinds of numbers any chance he gets - amounts he's paid for films he claims never sell. He'd better watch out - Lionsgate may have their sights set on him

It happens in a lot of places. That hoarding of rights so no one else can get them. This is the difference with a lot of some of the small labels who at times help each other out since they all want to see these movies be released. I am sure there is some behind the scenes bitterness over some but it is nice when you hear of a label helping another out with an extra or trying to find something.

I could not imagine spending thousands on rights and then to just sit on it like Miramax.

With Paramount recently announcing a glut of horror/thriller titles for later in the year, I'm wondering just how many - if any - new-to-Blu titles Scream may have left from their deal (since apparently Paramount aren't open for new ones at the moment, presumably nothing has been added). There's still some left, but I could definitely see Paramount releasing a few of these the way they're going. A few stand out - Fire in the Sky, Ghost in the Darkness, Red Eye - but we'll see.

When Worlds Collide
The Naked Jungle
Conquest of Space
I Married a Monster from Outer Space

Blood and Roses (probably still legal issues holding up a release)
The Vulture
The Penthouse
Targets

Unman, Wittering and Zigo
The Possession of Joel Delaney
The Horror At 37,000 Feet (TV)
Lipstick
The Shadow of Chikara (probably no longer with Paramount)
Bloodline

Dragonslayer (Paramount will probably release this themselves)
Fighting Back (music rights issues have long held up a DVD/Blu-ray release)
The Keep (no chance; seems that Scream, like Kino, had it under licence but were unable to meet Mann's unreasonable demands for a restored release)
Young Sherlock Holmes (Paramount will probably release this themselves)

The Temp
The Langoliers (TV)
Fire in the Sky
Rumpelstiltskin
Night of the Demons 3
The Ghost and the Darkness
A Simple Plan

Bless the Child
The Gift
Domestic Disturbance
Red Eye
The Ring Two
The Loved Ones

Seeing Rumpelstiltskin and Night of the Demons 3 there, I guess that means Paramount owns the Republic Pictures library? In that case I'd love to see them license out 1995's Night of the Scarecrow. I missed out on the Olive release, and it appears to be OOP now and a little pricey for me. Seems like a prime candidate for Scream Factory.

Yes Please to all of these.

Unrelated comment/thought... When exactly is Scream Factory announcing titles? I assumed that they had switched to end of the month announcements given what happened last month, but is that not the case? No announcements for June at all apparently? Seems really odd how they're doing things these days. They told us that August would be a light month and that they'd announce things late in the month, but then nothing for all of June regarding the supposedly much vaunted September Announcements? Has there been another change in management over there? Communication has really taken a dive over the last several months compared to what we used to get.

I watched one of Dave DeFalco's live streams and i believe Bill said he paid 60K for The Farmer and that he can't release it due to music rights. Makes no sense to me.

It's BFI, but obviously that wouldn't preclude a US release. In any case, it seems more like Criterion material to me.

I believe the August titles were announced on June 1, and they were leaked on Target the day before. It's probably too soon to determine a new pattern for announcements, but since they've reduced the timing of their announcements from 3 months to 2 months, they may continue to make announcements on the first of the month or the first business day of the month. So I'm thinking that we may get the September announcements on Thursday.

Other than What Lies Beneath, what other thrillers have Paramount announced for the Fall horror season? I'm not seeing a 'glut'.

Breakdown and Dead Again. It's possible there are still more to be announced.

And by Paramount's standards until the past year, 3 certainly seems like a 'glut'.

Fair enough. It's just that I classify thrillers differently. Breakdown is a classic thriller, while What Lies Beneath is more of a horror film. I'm looking for more bona fide horror thrillers

Well I did say 'horror/thriller titles', distinguishing between the two, but covering the genres of the three titles Paramount are releasing.

After all, the umbrella of what might constitute Scream Factory fodder is rather broad (beyond horror we've seen the line graced with sci-fi, action, post-apocalyptic... even The Garbage Pail Kids. They've never exactly been all that particular about sticking solely to 'horror').

Just got my copy of the Battle Beyond the Stars steelbook from Amazon. It's a minor miracle these things survive the trip in one piece stuffed into envelopes. Anyway, gorgeous steelbook. I wish Shout would do more of these. I've been picking these up as they're released and it feels like forever since the last time I bought one.

For everyone who is asking for a special edition of Child’s Play 2 and 3, official release of them exist but only the German release. The German release of Chicky 2 and 3 piece of art collection have extra features. I’m currently watching CP2 with video commentary in English by John Lafia with German subtitles. There’s also an audio commentary which I think is the same by Lafia and interviews and making of feature that I haven’t watch yet. It looks like CP3 also has video and audio commentaries in English and making of feature along with a German feature with English subtitles regarding the CP3 controversy which I will be checking out shortly. Just a heads up to everyone waiting for an official release with extra features.

https://www.pretz-media.at/de/sonder...bo-box-blu-ray

The discs are Region A, B and C compatible (Region free), each disc come with a booklet but it’s in German, the product is expensive and limited quantity release I paid $60 to import it.

This product page has better info in German of extra features for each movie:

https://www.bluray-dealz.de/reviewun...lu-ray/214785/

It appears pretty much all of the extras including commentaries and interviews are in English with only the German trailer in German only.

This is probably the edition most of the Chucky fans are waiting for. I recommend buying it before it’s out of print.

Since the German distributor somehow managed to get Universal to license the Child’s Play sequels to them, here’s hoping they will also get the rights to release special editions of the Jaws sequels.
