Like stubborn HDR10+ aPanasonic adding DV to their 2019 OLED and the Hollywood Colourist crediting Dolby and HDR in his interview at CES.

Dunno, the rollout is very HD DVD to me as far as support goes. You have 1 company (Samsung instead of Toshiba) really pushing it with some other supporters out there hedging their bets.

I'm thinking CES 2021 will be telling where the dust settles.

HDR10+ does seem to be gaining some momentum, but seeing Panasonic add DV is a bit of a gut punch

I think Panasonic's previous lack of DV was affecting their bottom line

I'm hoping with their DV support it does help sell more product and open themselves back up to U.S.A distribution. I hope Robert gives them an earful for us, PLEASE!

HDR10+ is a complete joke. Samsung are some of the biggest criminals on Earth. The less people support this trash, the better.

I'm not saying it's a success or anything, but it's less of a joke now than it was before. It's actually being implemented.

It's being implemented by one big studio FOX partnering with Samsung. Panasonic added DV and the Hollywood Colourist clearly gave credit to Dolby and Panasonic in his CES interview. Yes it will start to grow but personally I don't care much about it these days. Time will tell if it gets adopted better than DV.

I am hoping Marantz and other manufacturers push out HDR10+ passthrough to their preamps instead of forcing consumers to buy a whole new preamp if they want passthrough (though that wouldn't surprise me).

But, I like the idea of an open standard HDR format so I hope HDR10+ continues to get traction.

This DV/HDR10+ doesn't affect me though personally as projectors only can do HDR10 at best, anyway.

If HDR10+ seems to be the hottest thing right now I was surely disappointed. Was not all that impressed watching BTatER on 4K

It's only supposed to help make the content look like the content is supposed to look, nothing more.

You should probably change your username to Captain Obvious.

When I see the “+” I was hoping for a more enhanced HDR or something.

Didn’t see any difference from standard HDR.

It's not any different from standard HDR in terms of the visuals at source, the only difference is that it comes with content-derived metadata that allows the TV to tone map it more accurately.

Do you actually have a HDR10+ compatible TV and UHD player?

If it's so obvious why did you say it's a bigger joke now, genius?

If the AVR/pre-pro already supports DV, it should pass HDR10+ with no issue. To support DV it has to be a pure passthru or else it messes with the metadata in the stream. It isn't doing anything special, just not touching it at all. So if it does it with DV, it shouldn't be any different with HDR10+. Be easy to try if you have a chain. I don't have a HDR10+ display to try it with.

Interesting, so the passthrough isn't actually adding a specific DV/10+ compatibility feature, it's just letting the signal through as unmolested as possible?
