Just bought movie with no disc inside!!!

Hello everyone, I bought Dr. Strangelove from Best Buy yesterday, but when I opened the case, to my surprise, the disc was missing.
I didn't know that purchasing movies was like a raffle nowadays. Must be the economy.

Anyway, where should I seek a solution, Best Buy or the manufacturer?

with a receipt they will most likely let you exchange it for another copy

they generally try to give customers the benefit of the doubt so hopefully they won't have a huge problem with it...this stuff does happen every now and then and they know that.

I don't see why this required creating a thread? You've got a brain, you must have had things go bad before at some point in your life. Take it back to the store.

he's just asking for advice....plus if someone else ever encounters this problem and the OP posts the resolution, it may help others out as well

This has happened to me several times over the years with DVDs. Each time, I had no problem taking it back to the store and exchanging it for another copy. Just make sure you have the receipt, and you should be fine.

+1, this problem could of occurred with other "Dr. Strangelove" copies.

I have not had experiences like this with Movies, but I did get a CD once that had 2 discs in it when there should have been only one.

The ink on the bottom disk was wet enough that 2 stuck together as it moved on the assembly line. (Still have both disks - album was Van Halen either OU812 or For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge .... cant remember)

The only time I've had a problem like that was when I bought one of the James Bond Ultimate Edition boxsets a few years ago. The Octo***** case had two discs labelled Disc 1 and Disc 2, but when I played Disc 2, it was Disc 1 again. Wal-mart exchanged it hassle-free.

Of course, when I bought another set at the same Wal-mart the following week, they had a lower price on the sticker than in the scanner. The cashier had put it in the bag, I pointed it out, he took it out, looked at it, realized the error and called for a manager. Now, there was like ten people in line behind me, and he couldn't stick around and wait for the manager, so he proceeded to ring in other people's orders while waiting. Meanwhile, my Bond set is sitting in a bag in the checkout tray where the customer's grab their bags while I'm still standing about 5 feet away, awaiting the manager who never comes. As more customers are rung up and brought through, the guy never notices that I'm still standing there. As he turns back towards my bag, he notices stepping towards it and asks me "Is this yours?" and I say "yes" and he hands it to me and I promptly leave and go straight home, certainly content in not bringing up the fact that I didn't pay for it.

Yeah, I've noticed something like that on some of my Universal DVDs. The ink has some sort of other disc image on the bottom of the disc, but the DVDs play fine. I've noticed it with my copies of Chroncles of Riddick: Pitch Black; King Kong Escapes; and King Kong Vs. Godzilla. Then with the dye being all crazy has the bottom of the discs looking scary on some of my SONY DVDs, primarly my copies of Jet Li: The One & Resident Evil.

I wonder how many people flipped out when they bought the DVD for Borat?

Never had no disc inside issue, but I did buy "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" (the animated one) years ago and it had a "Penthouse" adult DVD inside , I took back to Best Buy, and they returned it w/ no prob.!
