Default Now that this decade is almost over...

What did you guys think of the past 10 years of movies? I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as the 90s but still very good, with comic book and action movies realizing previously unreached levels of excellence and entertainment.

I definitely agree with the comic book bit. Those movies were surprisingly better than the adaptations seen in the past.

On the whole, however, the 90's was better IMHO

I just remember comic book movies, remakes, and District 9.

Oh, and we had a small resurgence of musicals.

Lol, it just sums it up in a nut shell, its like someone said in 2000, hey lets throw character, plot, and story devlopment out the window along with cinematography and great dialogue and just animate a TON of robots and make lots of explosions instead, people will love it....and the sad part?

They did...

It's just amazing how so many people run with the assumption that because they can't recall the terrible movies of previous decades, then terrible movies must be a new phenomenon.

The only difference is that now, even terrible movies are expected to meet a certain standard of production quality... fifty years ago you could get away with construction-paper props and tinfoil costumes.

I think there are a lot of people here that just have no clue how many completely utterly awful movies were made in the so-called "golden age", and how much bad acting and implausible/stupid screenwriting made it to screen.
Geez... did you people never watch 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'? Did you never hear of Ed Wood?

The old days wasn't all 'Ben Hur's and 'Citizen Kane's... and this decade wasn't all 'Saw' and 'Fast and the Furious'. Go educate yourselves.
