United Kingdom Godfather Part II glitch

Hi,

at 1:31 the movie starts to hang up. I read on amazon.co.uk that this is a common problem and seems to be a bad batch. How are your experiences? Are there any that do not have the glitch? Has anybody bought it recently and still has the glitch?

I had the glitch. I returned it and was sent another one which was fine.

Sorry to double post, but I got this email from Amazon today:

Quote:
Dear Customer,

We are contacting you regarding your recent order referenced above for the following item:

-------------------------------------------------------
TITLE: The Godfather Trilogy [Blu-ray] [1972]

ASIN: B001E25MBK
-------------------------------------------------------

We have been made aware of a potential manufacturing issue with the title you purchased from Amazon.co.uk.

Possible affected units can be identified by the catalogue reference BSP2032 appearing on the spine of the outer slipcase holding all four discs, coupled with the barcode reference 5 051368 203232 appearing on the underside of the outer slipcase.

One of the discs in this boxed set: "The Godfather Part 2" may not work properly on your Blu-ray player.

The symptoms of the possible fault are that when watching the main feature of "The Godfather Part 2", the disc freezes at around 1hr 40mins and skips content before resuming play some 15 minutes later.

If you have experienced the symptoms described above when trying to playback "The Godfather Part 2" Blu-ray disc from this specific boxed set, please contact Rebecca.Sparrow {at} Technicolor {dot} com who will provide you with details of how to return the faulty disc 2 and receive a free replacement disc.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and for using Amazon.co.uk.

Warmest regards,

Customer Service Department

I've got that mail aswell, hope they get us a working version; from the three, the second part is my favourite one!

Likewise. FYI, the replacement I got from Amazon a few months back has the exact same barcode and catalogue reference number as mentioned above but does not have the glitch.

I wish i bought mine from amazon, i got my boxset from ebay it was brand new and sealed. I too had the second disc faulty issue. At least I got a tenner off. So not too bad I guess.

There is some news for people like me who cant return the boxset, paramont are releasing the godfather part I and II in single disc versions in the saphire range. It should be out in the US but its not region A locked from what I have heard. Im not sure when it will make its Uk Apperance.

The US release is Feb 2010

Btw when contacting that person, can you only send it back if you bought it from a proper company like amazon? or can you send it back even if you purhcased it from ebay? Does any one know?

Default UK Version of The Godfather

Does anyone here own it? I'm debating of buying it brand new off ebay, but I was reading reviews on Amazon.co.uk stating that disc two would no work. I own an American PS3, and I own the UK version of the Bourne collection and they all work great. Any feedback would be appreciated.

There are some discs of Part II that are faulty, and there has been a replacement program set up. But not every disc suffers from it, they said it's only on an early batch. They are region free, so you can buy them without a problem.

Part 2 had an error on an older batch. Unless the set is definitely new, I probably wouldn't risk it. Though Paramount are replacing faulty discs, AFAIK.

If you're a purist, I'd go for the US set, as it includes the original mono; the new True HD remix features altered foley work, eg. gun shots, background ambience, etc. I much prefer the mono track which preserves the work of the original foley artists.

I posted on the awful transfers https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...2&postcount=11

I can live with the poor video but the dumbed-down audio is terrible so I'll update mine at some stage as these are getting single releases in the USA (and Canada I assume).

If you want the original audio (or just the option) don't buy the UK versions.

Which one? The UK version only has 1 and the USA has 2 so you mean you're happy with what you have. Not the same as saying it's fine as you're comparing it to nothing.
