Default Godfather Part II glitch (skipping)

I tried searching through the threads and couldn't find anyone else with this issue...around the 8 minute mark (right after Vito is being put in the basket), the disc jumps...sometimes several times from the dark alley to the boat, or sometimes right to the boat. Has anyone else experienced this? Playing it on a PS3 with firmware completely updated. Disc has zero scratches. Possibly a bad batch? I assume there isn't much I can do except contact Paramount, but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well before doing so. Thanks

(If there is already a thread on this problem please point me to it and I'll have a mod close this one)

Suss, I just picked these up the other day. I'll go test it out real quick (same set-up... PS3 with latest firmware, brand new disc, no scratches, etc.)

Thanks, toef

My copy was from the month they came out (whenever that was...I'm too lazy to look it up). I've only watched Part I so far though (no problems)...just got around to watching II.

It's not like I'd help anybody, but this is Sussudio we're dealing with here.

Suss, I gave it a few tries (watched about the 6 min mark up to the ~9 min mark), and had no problems at all (well, except trying to pull myself away from watching the rest of the movie). It's possible you got a disc from a bad batch, so hopefully exchanging it will be enough to solve the problem.

So was your disc from the box set? In that case, my help was futile, because I just got the single releases from Tuesday.

Did you by any chance import the UK version? I know there was a bad batch of the UK Godfather II from the Godfather Trilogy collection, and Paramount did an exchange program or something.

If it's a US disc, probably just a bad disc - obviously too late to return to the store now, but Paramount customer support would probably do an exchange for you. I got the US Godfather collection when it first came out, and had no problem with Godfather 2 (and obviously a bunch of other people have purchased that set and not reported problems).

I got the box set, but thanks for your effort . I just sent Paramount an email asking if I can get the disc exchanged. If it was a really quick skip I wouldn't have a problem, but it's a fairly serious glitch (and one that takes place right at the beginning of the movie at that). Oh well...

It's the US set, and yeah, I haven't seen many (or any) reports of problems from people who bought the set when doing a google search so I'm guessing I got a copy from a bad batch or something.

I couldn't remember any skips, but I pulled my set down and tried it out and everything was fine. I have the same set-up and my set was bought release week from Amazon. Did you buy it online, or local? I'm asking because I bought a DVD set of Babylon 5 a while ago from Best Buy and about a month ago finally got around to watching it. After opening it one of the disc holders was cracked and wouldn't hold the disc. The disc was fine but I ran up to BB and after showing it to the manager, he swapped it out for me. I didn't even have a receipt.

Thanks for checking, Rob. I got mine from Borders (ordered online). I'm guessing that a few of the first batches might have had errors ...only thing I can think of. I'm sure none of the copies over the last several months have had the problem but until I find someone else who has the same problem as me then who knows...

Well like I said, I bought the set when it was first released. If you just got it, I'm sure you're fine

Update on the skipping: The rest of the movie is fine until the end credits when it skips like crazy
