Default Do you watch the extras on your movies?

I saw this some up win the DC thread and it got me to thinking. How many people actually watch the bonus features on their movies and/or TV shows? I know when I do my rating scale I include them as a part of the overall rating but it is the smallest part of the rating. So do you usually spend time watching the extras?

I watch them all on some movies, some on others, and none on the rest.

It depends on how much I like the movie and how interested I am in how it got made and whatever else the features are.

Yeah usually I feel I have SO many other movies to watch I don't bother... but maybe when I revisit the film.. my favorite extra is commentary tracks as I can re-enjoy the film and learn new stuff. The ones on the Disney films are the best.

The only commentary I've ever listened to all the way is Michael Bay's on Transformers. I've listened to parts of others but never the entire things.

Mostly because when I put the movie in I feel like watching and listening to the actual movie and not the commentary even if I planned on listening to the commentary before putting the disc in (which has happened a few times).

At least once when I first get the movie, afterwards it will depend, sometimes I feel like watching them. As for the commentary tracks, that truly depend on the directors. Some I always listen to them.

I watch them occassionally. If I'm interested in the film enough to watch the extras, I will. For example, my favorite film of all time is 300, so naturally, I watched every feature on the UCE and really got to know how the movie was filmed. The Godfather, on the other hand, is not a film that I watch and want to find out more about. The Godfather is a great movie, but not interesting enough for me to watch the extras on. On the other hand, I am hoping to become part of the film industry as a career and am fascinated by all aspects of film. Its only natural that I want to see how the film was made.

This. The inclusion, or exclusion, of extras don't influence my decision to purchase a film though. If I like the film, I'll get it regardless of extras. I might now get it right away if the price is high and there are little to no extras, but I'll get it eventually.

I really like special features, especially when they are really in depth like with Transformers 2 and Iron Man. I also enjoy commentaries when they are good, such as Sylvester Stallone doing Rocky Balboa (one of the best commentaries I've heard). I love it when I see a film has more special features in length than the actual movie.

Oddly enough, I rarely ever watch deleted scenes. I suppose it is because I figure they were not good enough to put in the film.

I'll watch the extras if I have time. I really love deleted/alternate scenes; there are times when I wonder why some of them were cut out in the first place (yeah, I know, pacing, plot, etc...but still, some scenes are just plain awesome). I like alternate cuts of movies, and will watch any and all versions to see which one I like better. Documentaries and featurettes can be a hit and a miss, but I've learned a lot from them. Outtakes are usually funny. Production photos and artwork can be very cool. I used to look for a lot of the special effects and previsualization features. I've only listened to two commentaries; I ought to listen to more of them. I'll even watch trailers, especially if it's a movie I blind-bought.

Haven't used any PiP, U-control, or BD-Live stuff yet.

Whether or not I really watch them, I'd rather have them than not have them.

rarely, but for the times i have they have been ok. only a couple have really been outstanding in the good sense. sometimes it is nice to see the actors out of character and some of the behind the scenes stuff is really nice. i almost always enjoy the special effects portions of these things when i watch them.

Now, on a slightly different but somewhat related subject, BD-Live has almost been completely worthless and incredibly problematic to the entire blu-ray experience. they should either revamp it or get rid of it. it causes more problems and distracts terribly sometimes you can't even watch the movie because of it so they need to do something with live!

I finally broke the 200 mark few week back (currently at 236 blu's) and I have only watched the extras on one of them which was Zodiac. Beyond that, I don't watch the extras and really don't care for them.

not really, if there is something that interests me then I will. Thats why I usually just stick to purchasing the one or two disc sets of the movies instead of the big collectors or ultimate sets of the movies.

I almost never watch them at all. I think I'm going to check out some of the extras on the Harry Potter Ultimate Editions though, which will be the first time in several years I've looked at any.

Ive watched all the extras on the Zodiac Disc. It is my favourite film of all time and the documentaries are fantastically produced and bring light to the story from those who were there. Talking about it makes me want to watch them

No surprise, David Fincher's movies always have a lot of supplements. David Prior (who worked on Zodiac and several other Fincher movies) said they even left some features off because it couldn't fit onto the disc. I hope Paramount/Warner will correct that mistake someday.

And I'm astounded by the fact that many people here (who would be called fans of the Blu-ray format) don't watch the extras. Yes, sometimes they're nothing more than promotional filler, but many times they're actually informative. Take the Blade Runner set, for instance. The amount of information on that is almost overwhelming, but it's worth to watch every documentary and listen to every audio commentary on it. And there are many more examples of that.
I try to watch everything, but sometimes I don't have enough time to do that. If I'm really not that interested in the movie, or the bonus material I have seen of that title leaves me underwhelmed, I will not watch all of it. Otherwise, I will. And extremely good documentaries I can watch over and over again. The Empire of Dreams documentary on the Star Wars trilogy, the extras on the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, or the Magnolia Diaries can be watched more than one time, and still remain good.
