Piracy is a crime.

One thing that I'm questioning is how you can afford a PS3, and a Blu-ray burner, but not a 20$ movie.

Can probably afford it by selling pirated movies... ya think? And before you get pissy, I haven't downloaded anything illegally in about 3-4 years. I saw the error of my ways, and would encourage you to regain your dignity and class by avoiding being a leech. Work to get what you want (and pay for it), and avoid being like the two-bit thieves that get what they have by directly or indirectly taking it (notice I didn't say "stealing") from someone else. I'm not accusing you of anything specific, but if you got a BR movie by downloading it, I can't imagine that's legal yet...

Blank discs are like 20$, why just not buy it and then you get the disc menu, disc art, and all the other extras?

As far as I know, PS3 can't play BDMV structure yet.
Most blu-ray movie you download will be in a BDMV folder structure.

Read from here http://wesleytech.com/backupbluray-guide/83/

Special comment #37. I don't know if it works. Let us know if you get it to work

whats legal and not legal bores me to death - either help him or not. Personally half the people in law are crooked in some way. I would be worried more about serious crimes like murder than crimes that keep someone from becoming filthy rich. Downloading free music used to be perfectly legal until someone decided to keep us restrained from what we can do. Sorry to ramble off topic - I will quit now. Please forgive me

No, PS3 does not supprt Mkv format. PS3 only supports MP4 and MPEG2. But it even more complex than that. the MP4 file has to be an AVC encoded movie with AAC audio encoded in the right resolution, bitrate, with complexity profile set to proper level for PS3 to play it. MPEG 2 playback follows DVD and Blu-ray specifications.

Basicaly PS3 movie playback for n00bs is limited to Blu-ray bough from a store. Only elite enthusiats have the knowlege to burn watch movies on PS3.

i just ordered parts to build a HTPC...it will play the bluray directly and connect to a 42" LCD so I don't need to get the PS3 involved.

I don't get why you would want to pirate something that costs more to pirate than to purchase. The blu-ray burner costs a lot of money as does the media. Someone pointed out that the media costs almost the same as a legitimate copy from the store.

Stop being a cheap bugger and go buy a copy and be done with it.
