Let me Google that for you. I keed, I keed

Just because I've done all my business through them: Digital Audio Cables at Blue Jeans Cable

If you have HDMI on your receiver, you should be using that from your PS3 in order to utilize any of the HD sound formats.

Just a word of advice. Usually, the optical output from a TV is just 2.0 audio. It's best to connect the PS3 directly to the receiver, that way you can get the full 5.1 or 7.1 audio signal.

From the movie Mr. Mom: You're doing it wrong.

First, what brand/model is your AVR?

Assuming it can accept HDMI, you need to connect your PS3 to your AVR with and HDMI cable, and then run a cable from the AVR to the TV. If your AVR does not accept HDMI, then run HDMI from your PS3 to your TV (for video only), and run digital optical from you PS3 (NOT yout TV) to your AVR. The reason choices are greyed out on the PS3 is because it detects what your TV is capable of receiving (I think that's how it works), and only allows you to feed it those signals. You'll never get HD audio or even lossy 5.1 this way.
