How to get HD 1080P on the original Xbox 360?
Ok, I bought the Xbox 360 the day it came out. I haven't played with it since July of 2008.
Well, recently I am starting to play with it again, and I just bought COD: Modern Warfare 2 and and Mass Effect 2.
I can't find an HDMI port on the Xbox 360, and I really want to use the 1080P on my new tv I just bought.
How do you connect it to the Xbox 360? Like what will I need to buy? Maybe, links to Amazon?

All Xbox 360 models (as of august or septemble of 2007) will have HDMI.

However, 1080p on the Xbox 360 with component is every bit as good as using HDMI. HDMI is really for having the convienience of having one cable instead of having a few cable to plug in video and audio. The only benefit of using HDMI is to use it for bypassing the HDCP encyption used for the now defunct HD DVD format. If you own an HD DVD add on for the 360, you can still get high definition video at 1080i, which doesn't look as bad as you think, and even for larger screens, it's negligable mostly, it just that the TV does the deinterlacing from the video with HD DVDs. Here is true fact about both formats, players set at 1080p 60Hz video are actually 1080i 60Hz video deinterlaced by the player. The only way to get a true 1080p video is using a 1080p24Hz signal, which the 360 doesn't support it even for HD DVD.

Until recently I had an older Xbox 360 console with no HDMI port, so I used component video cables and an optical audio cable. I was never able to use it set on 1080p. I'm guessing it was because of the HDCP garbage and apparently neither of my receivers would take the 1080p signal over component video. You can still use it at 1080i though and your receiver or TV will deinterlace and the picture will look really good (as pointed out). I finally bought a new Elite console because I needed a bigger hard drive and I wanted the convenience of HDMI. I honestly can't tell any difference in PQ though.

I have an adapter that was made for the old Xbox 360s. It plugs into the normal output port and allows me to use HDMI and optical audio. I don't use it anymore, I sold my xbox to Gamestop and they wouldn't take the adapter even though its branded with their name.

It works in 1080P, and says so on the package. Amazon is advertising it as 720P or 1080i, but the package says 1080P. This was hard to believe, and I went to settings and it let me switch to 1080P, and it works great!
Great product for the people who bought the Xbox 360's right when they came out.

Also, you should know I bought the Xbox 360 right when they came out, hence why I don't have a HDMI port.

These are the newest out, but I am not sure if they would work with my Xbox 360. I am pretty sure this might be just plain old HDMI. I bought the Xbox 360 right when they came out, hence why I don't have a HDMI port. Obviously my TV has an HDMI port. It has 4 or 5 ports I think. Would this product work with my TV. How would you set this up if it would work? And if it does work with any TV that has a HDMI port, is this the best product to get the full 1080P HD quality?

The component cables that you bought will only deliver 1080i. The only way to get 1080p is through an HDMI or DVI cable. Now the 2nd cables that you posted are VGA, you might be able to get 1080p, however in order for a signal to go over VGA it must be converted into Analog, then converted back to digital, so there is always a possibility of data loss. I think that your best bet will be to go with what you have right now. When your XBox dies you can get a new one with an HDMI cable.

The vast majority of video games are not native 1080p, in fact they are 720p. So your xbox, ps3 etc... is just upconverting and passing the signal on, something that your 1080p tv does anyway. Its sort of like upconverting dvd players, sure the expensive ones will go above and beyond and make the picture better. However most (especially affordable ones) don't really do much that your tv won't do anyways.

I personally would just stick with the 720 and not really care (i still play ps1 on my HDTV all the time). If you do really care though you can always take your 360 to a used store, preferably not a chain like gamestop etc.. as they will rip you off. Exchange it for a model that has an HDMI and chances are you will not end up paying to much difference on the exchange. Just a thought, as the way i understand it their is no way to get a 1080p signal from a non hdmi 360.

I posted in your other thread on this topic that according to what I've read component video can carry 1080p. However, due to HDCP limitations, most devices won't accept 1080p over anything but HDMI. So even though component video cables can carry the data, they're use is almost always limited to 720p/1080i for copy protection reasons.

What you got should be just fine. The second one you posted connects to the VGA, and it's not really any better than component. The third one is HDMI and won't work unless you have an HDMI port.
