Default PS3 + Dell 2407WFP-HC Setup

I have a Dell 2407WFP-HC as my "TV". I currently have my PS3 connected via HDMI to DVI to the monitor. It is connected at full 1080p. Oh the goodness! I have an HDMI switcher showing up today that supports up to 3 HDMI from one. So I can connect up to two more devices nicely.

Sorry if the pics suck but my aging G3 needs to be replaced. Oldie, but a goodie!

Are you happy with the contrast ? Just curious.

I have been thinking about this setup also, but the contrast ratio (1000:1) made me hesitated.

I don't have any problems with the contrast. Everything is adjustable. I am also used to watching LCD's all day for my computer work.

I will say this however, comparing it to our plasma - it is different. I won't say the colors are "washed out", but it's not the same. Plasma picture/color is by far the best you can get. However, LCD is a damn close second. Then again, it all depends on who you talk to

No banding, blocking or any problems. Its just like a regular LCD TV. This would be an EXCELLENT setup for people in dorms or smaller spaces (people who rent rooms).

I love it.

I will use the coax connection or hdmi audio when I get a larger space and have a receiver for it. Until then, this works just fine for me.

Default Just a brief question...

Hey there - my first post in this forum

I have been googling around for a while to find some information on the combination "PS3 + Dell 2407" and up came this thread...

As I can tell from the pictures you posted here (which btw look great) it seem that the 1080p mode of the PS3 will result in black bars at the top an bottom - expected as the display has 1920*1200. Does it look the same when playing games on the PS3? Is this effect due to the 1:1 pixel mapping so that there is NO stretching of the image? I would hate to spend the money on the display and then see all the output stretched from 16:9 ratio to 16:10, but I could more than happily live with the black bars considering that the image is full HD...

any reply is appreciated!

Actually, those black bars are part of the movie. Whatever the signal is, the monitor displays. Bars, no bars - whatever it is. The monitor itself has the following options to pick from:

1:1
Aspect
Fill

I have left it on the default of Fill. I also have not played with it beyond that. Everything looks perfect as if I were watching it on my plasma.

Hope that helps you. Welcome to the forums too

For audio right now to keep a "clean" look, I am using the Dell AS501 sound bar that is made for these monitors. Snaps on nicely and is powered by the monitor. It's the silver thing at the bottom of the monitor in the first pic with the blue light on it.

I am using the SCART plug with white/red rca connectors to a coupler that turns the connection into a stereo jack (female) and with that I plug in a regular stereo plug in to it from the sound bar (male). I only used the couplers because both my RCA ends were male. The couplers are female on each end which allows the males to plug in. Sounds complex, but its very simple and cheap. I had everything but the couplers which were 3 bux from the rat shack.

Sounds great for a cheap setup

Hey guys, well sorry to bump this thread but.

I recently bought a Dell 27wfp 27" (or what ever) and of course there is no sound, so I've been playing my PS3 without sound, then I found this thread.

So I bought the AS501 soundboard. I then bought a AUDIO VIDEO ADAPTER stereo-RCA converter.

But the sound is very very quiet. I'm just wandering if 'Drinkmore' or anyone else has had this problem and what they have done to fix it? I have the sound up full blast and can easily understand music but that is about it, it's very quiet.

Cheers for any help.

Make sure everything is tightly plugged in.

Make sure you are using SCART for your sound under the sound settings of the PS3

Lastly, there is a BOOSTER option when you are playing a BD movie. Press the options button and in the pop up menu you will see a speaker icon. Select it and increase the volume to max.

See what that does for you.
