Default Matrix: The Second Renaissance

First of all, relax, this isn't an offical movie announcement or anything, but...

I'm sitting here watching The Animatrix BD for the first time since I got the Ultimate Matrix DVD set from what, about 5 years ago? And I'm thinking the first two animated shorts following the The Last Flight of the Osiris short, The Second Renaissance, Part I and II basically telling the Prequel story of how the Machines turned on their human masters (much the same way the robots in I, Robot did) and then the human resistance to the machines creating the world we see in the original films, would make a great full length live-action or aat least an animated film like Appleseed: Ex Machina was.

Whatchu all think?

Go back and rewatch it if you've forgotten about it.

That film would be way too similar to I, Robot. Therefore, it wouldn't be worth it. As far as I'm concerned, The Matrix Trilogy should remain completed as it is.

Yeah, those two prequel shorts were awesome. Would have made great movies. Too bad we won't get more Matrix films.

I agree with the second part. But I think it could remain separate from "I, Robot" as long as it stays true to the "Matrix" saga and maintains its own style and tone.

The thing that really gets to me about "The Second Renaissance" is that it's intense, gloomy, and epic. If anything, it reminds me more of "The Terminator" with the nuclear wastelands and hoards of machines tearing the human race apart.

This would also be a good opportunity to showcase the original Matrix program (as a perfect utopian society), and to show some of the stuff that the Architect talked about (
[Show spoiler]setting up a better Matrix, establishing Zion, and possibly going into the original versions of "The One"
).

I doubt that this would ever become a movie, but it could be awesome!

I agree, I think it would be nice if it was done as an anime as well given how much the trillogy was inspired by anime.

Yeah, like I said, an anime done in the style of Appleseed. With photo realistic 3D environments, but with anime style characters.

Well, the first part of the film would be, but the war part would be more like Terminator Salvation. Except instead of Skynet and HKs, it'd be the Architect and Sentinels.
