According to this article since Paramount is HD-DVD exclusive now there is now more HDTV titles on the HD-DVD format compared to the BLU-RAY format.
Quote “Discontinued Paramount and DreamWorks titles account for just over 11% of all domestic Blu-ray releases, leaving 257 Blu-ray titles in active release as of Aug. 28, according to data from The DVD Release Report. There are 279 HD DVDs available to consumers, giving that format the edge in title count for the first time since Blu-ray began to dominate at the turn of the new year.” http://www.homemediamagazine.com/index.cfm?sec_id=2&newsid=11104 |

And they're still losing in sales by a good 2-1 margin.

I think by the end of the year the balance will have been addressed.
Remember we have seen just a fraction of what the BDA are planning. It is definitely a sure-fire bet that we will hear more at IFA. Tomorrow at 16:00-17:00 European time. About 10am ET for anyone wondering. |

This is why I don't like people boasting on either side, one announcement and it can all come crashing down.
Right now the only thing you can boast about with any confidence is software sales, the rest is speculation, potential and FUD. |

Exactly...how's the "cheap players" argument doing for you now HD Rider? Ya know, given that Blu-ray has thumped HD DVD all year long.
As long as the BDA keeps its price of players in close parity to their HD DVD counterparts, more consumers will flock to Blu-ray with brands like Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sharp, Philips, LG, and Samsung rather than a brand like Toshiba and...oh wait,...no one else. Never underestimate a good brand, especially in electronics. Unless you have a substatiative agrument of how Brand X chinese HD DVD player will somehow conquer all existing and trusted brand names of the BDA. Otherwise, I say shut your pie hole HD Rider, and troll somewhere else. So what is your argument?...We're waiting to smack you down. |

It seems whatever small advantage HD DVD has or gets is trumpetted as vital to the success of HDM. That's weak. Gary P.S. Has the Paramount move changed your mind about getting a PS/3? Last edited by dialog_gvf; 08-29-2007 at 03:54 PM. |

Lets separate the fact and the fud. I have been using DVDUniverse since last year as the reference. They only list when they have word from the studios that a release is on the way 355 HD-DUD vs 406 Blu-ray
There are a few anomalies in there (caused by Paramount) and they have not included the FOX releases, so take the 40 Paramount titles away and add the FOX and Blu-ray is still well ahead (future confirmed releases are included in both), but please don't let a few relevant balanced supportable stats get in the road of some good old fashioned FUD for HD-DUD. |

I find it humorous that at a site called "bluray.com" has people from the red camp coming in and being trolls. What, they don't have a good resource for themselves to gloat over how they are going to lose? LOL This is a BD site! If you love red so much, find some place else to go! Cause really, if you like to go to both, that's what AVS is for. Last edited by Balquin; 08-29-2007 at 04:06 PM. Reason: addition |
