Default Managed Copy Still in Play for BLU-RAY format (updated article link)

It appears that Managed copy for BLU-RAY will become a reality. Managed copy most likely will be included in the AACS specs for BLU-RAY one day but of course the feature can be turned on and off per movie. It will be up to the movie studios if they decide to use the feature for select titles. Most likely very few if any movie studios will turn on the managed copy feature on BLU-RAY. It would be nice to make a perfect bit for bit managed copy of BLU-RAY movies to a HD home media server so that everyone in the house can access a menu of BLU-RAY movies to choose from. Several TB hard drives would be ideal as a HD media server for managed copying.

Michael B. Ayers, chairman of the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) Business Group and manager of AACS Licensing Administrator, disputed media reports that the final specifications of the AACS content protection system would not include Managed Copy for Blu-ray Disc.”
