Lets separate the fact and the fud. I have been using DVDUniverse since last year as the reference. They only list when they have word from the studios that a release is on the way 355 HD-DUD vs 406 Blu-ray
There are a few anomalies in there (caused by Paramount) and they have not included the FOX releases, so take the 40 Paramount titles away and add the FOX and Blu-ray is still well ahead (future confirmed releases are included in both), but please don't let a few relevant balanced supportable stats get in the road of some good old fashioned FUD for HD-DUD.

The only way the margine would change is if HD DVD got more players on the market.
Hense the idiotic arguement that PS 3 owners don't count by Toshiba..

I don't think Toshiba has ever said they don't count, they just choose not to include them in certain statistics.

You can't argue that having the PS3 also be a blu-ray player hasn't muddied the statistics though - there's no way around it. Not everyone single player is used for movies, but many are.

Exactly...how's the "cheap players" argument doing for you now HD Rider? Ya know, given that Blu-ray has thumped HD DVD all year long.

As long as the BDA keeps its price of players in close parity to their HD DVD counterparts, more consumers will flock to Blu-ray with brands like Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Sharp, Philips, LG, and Samsung rather than a brand like Toshiba and...oh wait,...no one else.

Never underestimate a good brand, especially in electronics. Unless you have a substatiative agrument of how Brand X chinese HD DVD player will somehow conquer all existing and trusted brand names of the BDA. Otherwise, I say shut your pie hole HD Rider, and troll somewhere else. So what is your argument?...We're waiting to smack you down.

Lol.. exactly.. If you don't mention them.. they don't exist..

It certainly has muddied the waters a bit but it's also made the waters a whole lot bigger...

they can have 5 million releases..i dont spend money on movies that makes less than $5,000,000 domestic....which accounts for about 105 of HD-DVD movies ...blu ray has the best movies anyway

think of it this was..
at restaurant u get a small serving of caviar
and heeps of fries
why, caviar is quality shit....
blu ray= caviar
HD-DVD= fries

He's entitled to be on any forum he wants......no need to bash him. I belong to both camps so should I dump this and the HDDVD forum for AVS?
I noticed that on this side we're a little rough on the Reds than the Reds are on the Blues on their side.............If we're winning, we should be gracious winners.

Cause really, if you like to go to both, that's what AVS is for.

Yea, its lame. I would say (just an educated guess) that a higher percentage of PS3 owners use their system as a BD player (whether exclusive BD use or as a secondary) than those that do not.

They need to include if not all, a certain percentage in thier numbers. I know I use my PS3 almost exclusively (90%BD 10%everything else) and i've read most others [on here] do the same thing.

Well just cause they are "out-of-print" does not mean that they are not available.
I just got 3 Paramount BDs this week!
Not to mention, the technology is still there and they can just start using it again once they realize how dumb they have been and go neutral again.

Not bashing because he supports HD-DVD, bashing because he claims the sales ratio of 2:1 is a lame argument. He stoked the fire.....and then took off! That's what trolls do!

And likewise, when they're losing they ought to be gracious losers as well...but I don't see that happening either, especially over at AVS.

I understand where you are coming from, but everyone who is entitled to forum membership, must also put up a substantiative arugment other than calling forum members "babies" lest they get smacked down.

BTW, thanks for contributing to the perpetual stagnation of the high-def market by belonging to both camps <insert thumbs up>.

All kidding aside, I simply think we need more intellectual conversation coming from those with dissenting opinions other than simple flaimbait.

I know Toshiba is selling more players than all the other Blu-Ray brands combined. As long as the OVERALL number of Blu-Ray players (including PS3) keeps increasing faster than Toshiba's sales, Blu-Ray will always have more players and therefore more software sales.

They choose not to include them in certain statistics that would be inconvienient for them

The PS3 is a standalone Blu-ray player. It has sold what, 5 million units now? Therefore, Toshiba has been outsold by PS3 alone over 5-1.

Whether or not those people are buying movies is irrelevant. The decks are in those homes and they CAN buy movies. Does everyone order PPV just because they have a cable box? No, but they still count that when trying to sell companies on their PPV services.

I havent met many gracious losers in my day.......a gracious loser seems to be one who accepts it.
His arguement seemed to be based more on emotion about being down 2-1 than any cogent thinking. He did deserve to get spanked for the BABIES comment.

As for owning both players (A20 & Sony 300), the A20 was a B-day present and the Sony was a spiff as I work in the industry....So there

Weak? Outselling HD-DVD by 100%...how can anyone say this is a weak arguement? Do you even comprehend how many companies would love to outsell their competitors on a 2:1 basis?
