Default Fright Night (2011) sequel on the way

This is so strange... As a fan of both the original and the remake, I'm not sure how I feel about this. Simply because it's direct to DVD/Blu-ray.

Weird.

Bad news is, looks like it's going to be some kind of unrelated spinoff with the same title.
Good news is, at least it's not an updated remake of the cheesy "Fright Night II", with the female vampire and the cheap werewolf.

Just recently saw the remake and actually liked it more than the original, except for the way they handled Ed, and very soon after ordered the BD. This sounds interesting, but most likely will disappoint. I'll keep an eye on it though.

Really liked the remake - although unnecessary, it was stylish and very cool. Not sure that a sequel would add anything to it, but might check it out when it's in a bargain bin somewhere.

Fright Night Part 2 Official Trailer 1988 - YouTube
Just wondering: why do people pay $60-80 for the DVD of Fright Night 2?

Wish they would just come out with Part 2 on bluray instead of this direct to video remake.

Loved the remake, but I have no interest in this. Of course Colin Farrell wouldn't be back, but the fact that it's a standalone story gives me no reason to care.

Same reason people pay extreme amounts for certain steelbooks - because demand pushes the price up, and people feel that they have to pay a high price to secure them the DVD before it gets even harder to find. I've never seen it the whole way through, but from the scenes I've managed to see on YT, I wouldn't pay £1 for it.

At least they will have to do something original (maybe). I'm still not interested in a DTV sequel though.

I would rather see a sequel that followed David Tennant's character. That was the original plan too, before the movie sunk at the box office. Sad too, because Tennant was my favorite part of the remake and I would have loved to see him continue on as Peter Vincent.

Just picked up the remake for $7.56 on the Target clearance rack (always check that little area--if it says "AS IS", it was bought online and returned to the store) and am watching it tonight. Heard good things. Some DTV movies aren't bad, but did it do that poorly on the theaters?

I saw that. Weird that they would make a sequel to this. Seeing how it didn't perform so well at the box office. But I'm guessing it sold alot and found its audience on DVD and Blu Ray.

The one thing in that article cracked me up though.
[Show spoiler]With them saying Collin Farrel wouldn't be returning. Yeah, no shit. His character was killed at the end.

Guess we'll just need to see where this one goes, straight to video or not.

Honestly I wanted this movie but i hope new girlfriend, David Tennant, and Anton Yelchin. Plus keep the same premise of the first and maybe change it up a little.

Those two could possibly return considering they don't have much of a career.

That's what I was just thinking. He has a huge career over in the UK, and a pretty big following here because of his time on 'Doctor Who'. I know it's because of that I actively seek out his newest films and shows.

Yeah David does a lot of Dramas and Theater work over here. Also he does a couple of films a year, not to mention everybody knows he was the Doctor. I am just shocked someone would say that...

I think he meant movie career in the US. I never heard of this David guy until I saw Fright Night. As I have said he was the weak link in that film for me so I hope he doesnt come back personally. He doesnt hold a candle to the original Peter Vincent in my book. I also hope they go for a female vampire just like they did in the original sequel. Got Em!!
