Default 5.1 channel audio

I was using the optical out on my bd-p1400 until I heard I could experience Dolby TrueHD using the analog outs. I tried this and was pleased with the sound with one major problem. The subwoofer is barely getting a signal. When I use the optical you can feel air on your hand from the sub over a foot away, but with the 6 channel mode you can't even tell its playing. What didi I do wrong? My reciever is an older RCA R2250???(not sure about model#) that has dd and dts decoders. I want to use Dolby True HD but not at the expense of no bass.

I have the same set-up and can honestly say that the bass from the sub is excellent. In the speaker set-up, are you seeing the LFE channel on the diagram? I had to toggle the front speakers between small and large, then the LFE channel appeared. From that point, I set the front speakers to small, ran the test tones, and have had excellent bass.

Hope this helps.

Do you have the speakers set to small? That should also increase LFE routed to the sub? Are you getting no sound, or just very light sound?
