TV Channel Audio Isuues? - Blu-ray Forum

I'm just wondering if anyone has similar issues:

My local CBS channel (Atlanta) seems to suffer from constant audio issues. During any random show (either local or national), the audio will shift between stereo and surround at random points and intervals (as I am writing this, it went from surround, to stereo for a few seconds, back to surround for a minute, and now its 'settled' on stereo for the last 5 minutes). There is also occasional 'pops' and static from my speakers that only happens on this channel as well. This is the only channel it happens on, and I have no idea why. I have called Comcast, and they have told me that the signal that they get is sent through the cable, so the issue must be on my end. When I told them it only happens on CBS, they recanted and said they don't know why (even though its obviously the signal they are sending).

I don't watch CBS much, so it doesn't concern me too much. But just wondering if anyone else has been witness to a similar situation.

I have not had any problems with Houston's CBS station, but I have had similar problems with ABC's station (Ch. 13). Channel 13's 5.1 audio varies from OK to poor to almost unusable on nearly a daily basis. Before DirecTV had to cutoff their national ABC feed, I use to watch New York's ABC station, which had no audio problems.

It is my understanding (at least here in Houston) that the local stations are still not fully ready for the final digital cutover and are still installing and testing equipment. I have concluded that I will have to wait until after the February cutover date before I can expect all the problems to be finally worked-out.

I know that problems in Houston are not the same as in your area, but I would not be surprised if your local stations are not also having similar issues with audio and/or video.

CBS is the station with the biggest issues in my home. More than any other station the volume difference is huge on CBS between programming and commercials.

I get the same changes you get but not much during programming, more so during commercials and the volume changes are unbearable. So much so my wife doesn't even want CBS on the TV anymore. And I have Tivo. It's just a matter of not catching it at exactly the right time. Drive me crazy.
