Default Sony BDP-S301 with Bose 321 system

I would like to ask for help with a problem I am having with this setup. I saw your post about the BDP-300 with the Bose 321 and am hoping you may know. I am a rooky at this so I am hoping it is something very simple. I hooked the Sony up with a HDMI cable to my Phillips Plasma TV. I hooked up the TV to the Bose with the orange digital cable. When playing regular DVDs on the blu-ray everything is working fine but when I go to blu-ray discs I have an audio problem. When I start the blu-ray disc the audio is working fine through the promos and the intro screen to the movie. When I hit start to play the movie in the intro screen, it starts and there is no sound. During the promos the bose unit shows digital dolby 5.1 but when the movie starts it is PDM 2.0 and no sound. When using the Bose unit for all other components I have to bring the volume on the TV to 0. I can get the Blu-ray sound by turning off the Bose and turning up the volume on the TV but the sound from those speakers is not very good.

My audio settings on the Sony are max on the audio control under a/c control. I am at software version 3.7. In the audio setup I am at Dolby digital under Dolby Digital, DTS under the DTS, Lt/RT under DTS Downmix, and auto under audio(HDMI). Speakers are set at 2 channel. I called Sony but the young lady just had me double everything I just said and told me to contact Bose. I have sent them an email.

I hope I covered everything and appreciate if anyone has an answer to this.

being that the BOSE cannot accept HDMI audio...you will only get 2.0 PCM through the optical/digital coax.

you should connect the audio cable directly from the player to the bose...going through the TV to the BOSE could lose you support for certain audio formats. But if you must, make sure in your TV settings for audio you select digital audio output to "Dolby" or "Bitstream" (whichever is an option)

What audio setting are you choosing on the BD Menu? I'm suspecting your TV isn't downmixing it and sending out the tosllink.

Can you go directly from the toslink out on the BD player to the toslink in on the Bose HT receiver?

You'll need to run your optical from the BDP direct to the Bose receiver. Set your BDP to bitstream.
