I recently bought a Sony Blu-Ray player and I have a Bose Lifestyle 38 (from 2005). I connected the HDMI output from Blu-Ray player to my Panasonic Plasma TV and optical cable output directly to Bose. Now my Bose system shows PCM 2.0 on the system. I was wondering how can I get the Dolby 5.1 effect?
Any suggestions/explanations will be helpful Thanks |

What model player do you have? If it's S350 or S360, set your player's audio to Dolby Digital (or DTS), make sure it is not set to 'Downmix PCM'. If it is not set already, set your audio output priority to coaxial/optical. The default was HDMI. The priority is probably your problem here. (say that 3 times real fast)
I think your Bose is supposed to be able to decode Dolby Digital and DTS from external components. Finally, make sure you select the correct audio track on your discs. Last edited by jonesyg27; 08-29-2009 at 08:43 AM. |
