Default CNBC article on format war!!!

http://www.cnbc.com/id/22184987

Atleast he acknowledged the NBC involvement from the start.

He strokes the massive increase in HD Players, but then brings minor reference to disk sales. "If disc sales were any indication...."

He says that standalones are neck-and-neck, then says that without the PS3 (which wasn't included in standalones of course) there wouldn't even be a competition.

It sounds to me like without the PS3, there actually would be a competition, instead of one format slowly dying. It's a bad sign when a corporate conglomerate starts using their news division to spread FUD.

"Take PS3 out of the mix and there isn't even a competition here."

A lot of people, like me, bought the PS3 because it was, at the time, the best available Blu-ray player on the market. I think the new Panny beats it at the moment, but once the PS3 lands the 1.1 profile update, it'll once again be the leading Blu-ray player available.

Yawn. Another day, another questionable article from Goldman.

No surprise this sounds one-sided. Afterall, it's also the same company that runs MS-NBC. Wouldn't have expected anything less from them.

This holiday shopping season could end up being the single most important battle this war and determine whether Microsoft, Intel and Toshiba or Sony, Disney and 170 other companies come out on top.

Shouldn't over 170 companies backing a particular standard tell you something also?

I think the only reason HD DVD sales a player or two here and there is because its named HD DVD nothing else. More than half of the people I know refer to moves in High Definition as to HD DVD... I'm not worried. Uneducated people who buy an HD-DVD player will soon find out they made the wrong decision because when they go to the store and say "Oh, I can't buy Die Hard in HD DVD, or Oh, I can't buy Pirates of the Caribbean in HD-DVD... etc. etc. etc. Blu-Ray has the edge in sales, support and most importantly software! Forget HD-DVD... That thing its history...

Voted and just this week swayed my brother-in-law (was considering XBox 360 with HDDud ad on)and a coworker (was neutral and does not play games) to go Bu Ray via the PS3. They both agreed it was the better of the two choices.

I did the same. My coworker and friend is not a gamer at all but like movies and his sons will play games. Once he priced out the blu-ray end of it and added the gaming the choice was clear.

Take Tom Brady out of the Patriots and they aren't 13-0.

Sheesh.

Take the engine out of the car and it won't run.

Lord.

Take the blood out of a human and he'll die.

I loathe those kind of references.
