Indy 4 Being Prepped for Blu-ray!

Another interesting tidbit of information is about the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. As we all know, Paramount's deal does not cover Steven Spielberg films, and so Indy 4 is being prepped for Blu-ray Disc for release sometime late this year. Apparently, Paramount is reluctant to pony up the additional cost for the disc to be certified, so it may take George Lucas to personally step in and make it happen. Be sure to let Paramount know we want this!

It looks like Indy 4 is a go for blu, but you may have to wait on the other three movies because you don't know what is going on with the studios right now, but it would make sense to release them with the new one as well.

All of these films are classics and I am sure the fourth installment will be just as memorable. To have this collection on Blu would be amazing and sit right up there with the LOTR Trilogy as well as Star Wars.

No, but I do believe we will get an Indy boxset at the end of this year when Indy 4 hits home video.

The movie has just finished post-production last I heard and will be going into theaters in May.

A home video release date is set for October or November.

Just finished post production=Spielberg has an edit he's happy with that now goes to final mixing, dubbing, VFX etc.

yes, I'm 100% sure that as things stand right now, there will be an Indy 1-4 box for next Christmas. Paramount invests in it, but Lucasfilm does all the actual work on the discs. If George has to pay for THX's time he'll be pissed

There's been a metric shitload of recent moving and shaking in regards to the whole HD "format war", which already seems to have Blu-Ray being declared the victor.

If there's any validity to this rumor, it would be just one more whip-crack to the ass of HD-DVD. From the CES show currently taking place in Vegas comes word that INDIANA JONES AND TEH THING WITH TEH KOOKY SKULLS is already being prepped for a Blu release. You can make your own black-and-Blu jokes about Ford's age -- I actually, almost inconceivably, am starting to look forward to the movie, despite the presence of Shia's questionable facial scruff.

Spielberg's flicks aren't covered by Paramount's (apparently no longer) exclusive HD-DVD deal, so the flick will reportedly be hitting the seemingly preferred format later in the year... probably just in time for Christmas. The disc will be certified for THX (wasn't Spielberg a major DTS audio guy?), along with Lionsgate's Blu release for TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY. Looks like that PS3 was a worthwhile purchase after all (for something other than UNCHARTED, anyway).

Except Joblo got it wrong (skimmed the article perhaps?)

As of right now, the disc is NOT being THX certified. Paramount is trying to avoid it the same way they avoided having The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs not certified.

Plus THX is not an audio format!

If you're going to quote my article at least get it right!

In my article I was talking about how the original T2 BD had additional steps that Lionsgate had to take to get it certified.

As far as another version...no comment.
