Default Sony PS3 and 1080P24fps question?

I just switched from HD-DVD A-30 to the Sony PS3 80GB, the problem i'm having is when watching movies using 1080P24FPS setting the image has a ghost blotchy effect or motion blur when watching action scenes.
I've never noticed this when watching HD-DVD movies using the same setting on my Sony 52" KDL52W3000.
When I set it to 1080P everything looks fine, I just don't understand why 1080P24 doesn't work well with the following movies "3:10 to Yuma" and "Nacho Libre" on the PS3.

It could be your TV. When the "24" feature first came out, a lot of people had issues with it because their TV couldn't display it properly. I have a Samsung HL-T6189S. I think it is the top of the line in that series of DLPs. It is a little less than a year old and it handles that 24fps thing great. I've never had an issue with it. But other Samsungs in the same line have issues.

I was under the Impression that the KDL-W series could not do true 24p because it is not 120Hz.

Out of curiosity have you tried setting the option to "automatic"? If you are only noticing it on these two movies see if it reoccurs under the automatic setting and then make sure you don't see a difference in another movie you own but did not have an issue with before.

I just tried it again with 3:10 to Yuma and it doesn't help. Having the setting on "Automatic" or "On" causes the same effect. Having the setting on "Off" gets rid of the ghosting image in the opening scene from 3:10 to Yuma.

Are you running it through your reciever or anything? Have you tried swapping cables with you HD DVD player? I'd try these first and then I don't know what...
