An old favorite of mine, since I went to the 1962 fair several times. It was a big local news story when Elvis was in town.

I'd otherwise have no interest in this, but--- having quite enjoyed exploring Seattle a few years ago, it would be fun to see the Fair in all its glory from back in the day.

I always liked catching this on TV back in the 90s. I'll pick this up if the special features are good. Any word on those?

Just got my copy in the mail today. Looks like only a trailer is included.

The best part about this release is the fact that it comes in a real bluray case and not that crappy piece of junk eco case.

My copy came in a significantly warped case but the art isn't damaged so I didn't bother exchanging it. It doesn't appear to be Amazon's fault, that's just how the plastic was.

I wonder if they set the package out in the sun? It would protect the art but the heat would still warp the case.

If it was me, I'd exchange. Especially if you bought it from Amazon.

Thankfully my case arrived pristine.

Long-overdue site review is up on the main page. As usual, a great 1080p transfer so I managed to grab 20 screenshots.

Thanks for the review! Of course, I bought it when first available! And yes, not because it's a great movie, but for nostalgia, as I lived in Federal Way, WA at the time and we went to the World's Fair ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Century_21_Exposition) of course. I love Century 21 stuff , the Space Needle and the mileu! I was six and now six-ty- five :-) The movie is a gorgeous time capsule...

Living in Seattle, I went to the fair several times, so the film is nostalgic for me.

The scene in which Elvis dines in the Space Needle restaurant was reportedly a full-scale set recreation by MGM in California. They fooled me!

Makes sense, with the filmmaking technology of the time, there would have been no way to get enough light on the two of them to make it register on film and also be able to see anything out the window. It would have been pitch black out there:

And they have clearly cheated the angle of the view out the window, as most real estate ads do as well. From an angle this low, you wouldn't see the city at all out the window. You'd just see sky.

But I agree, the location photography of the fair is AMAZING!

I also love the song at the end, "Happy Ending." I'm probably the one human being on earth who can say that it's actually my favorite Elvis song.

Just read the review. Never seen the film, but comments here from site regulars I respect had me immediately adding it to my list.

Great find! I saw so many favorite films at that theater. Off the top of my head:

GIANT OF MARATHON
THIEF OF BAGHDAD (1961)
IT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD'S FAIR
KISS OF THE VAMPIRE
THE SWORD OF LANCELOT
SUMMER MAGIC
DARK INTRUDER
THUNDERBALL
YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE

As much as I liked that theater, they occasionally put phony "intermissions" into their screenings in an attempt to sell more counter candy. For example, I don't believe that either THUNDERBALL or YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE were intended to have "intermissions" during theatrical engagements.

I like the first song, "Beyond The Bend," written by Dotty (Dolores) Fuller, the lady who lived with Ed Wood and starred in his seminal film GLEN OR GLENDA.

The song "One Broken Heart For Sale" did become a modest hit for The King, and was just about his last release before The Beatles hit big.

I still think the big final song, "Happy Ending," is wildly underrated.

It's genuinely my favorite Elvis song:

I recall two versions of "Happy Ending." The film version I think had a bunch of horns on the soundtrack, while the LP version was more pop and didn't have the horns. This is off the top of my head, I should add.
