Default Audio setup

Some movies go straight into the main presentation. Therefore does the PS3 just pick a random audio setting or one dictated by system settings?

I don't have an amp yet so not played with it, just curious what people do to set different settings on the audio.

Cheers.

the PS3 does have some audio settings...but you don't need to mess with them.

as far as a movie is concerned, it will default to either a standard dolby digital track or dts track. If thats what you are asking?

That's what it sounds like they are asking.

The discs do have a default setting. 99% of the time I have seen it being the Dolby Digital 5.1 track unless it is a FOX release. They only have the DTS HD track on most of their releases. And, for those titles that jump right into the movie (WARNER BROS sucks for not using main menu pages), it really is not that big of a deal to hit the menu button, select "Languages" on the menu and change sound output streams on the fly without having to interrupt the playback. I often get it set to and playing back the HD audio track before the studio logo is anywhere near being completely played.

Petra is correct. The discs all have default settings. Whether they've been programmed to read and adjust to player defaults is up to the individual disc.
