Default No Country: SD to HD Upgrade Value?

Hello everyone!

My very post here, but I've been an avid lurker for quite awhile.

I finally made the transition (or I should say my fiancee finally let me) from a 720p/1080i home theater TV setup to a brand new Panny 50PZ700U + Panny BD30 player configuration.

I am a religious movie buff and have an SD collection of approximately 1300 DVDs. Today we snagged No Country For Old Men our 2nd BD (Apocalypto was the first; one of her faves and a flick we didn't already have in our SD library) after having researched reviews saying the transfer and AQ are top-notch.

However, I'm still a bit hesitant to crack it open since, as can be assumed, I also purchased the SD DVD a couple of weeks back. Can anyone who has both formats or seen both give some sort of feedback/opinion as to whether the upgrade is worth it?. Or does the SD DVD suffice?

I've "double-dipped" SD DVDs before and have usually offloaded the inferior copy to friends and family, so I could get rid of the SD NCFOM, but it's the loss of the initial $15 and the $9 extra cost of the new disc that gives me pause.

Any help much appreciated. Got to put one of these badboys in here

Remember, I have yet to open the BD, so there has been no side-by-side comparison on my part. I'm asking others about their experience before I break the seal.

No Country For Old Men looks and sounds fabulous on Blu-ray and easily beats the dvd in all aspects. This is a no-brainer choice to go with the Blu-ray.

like every new release, the blu ray is far superior.

with regards to this particular one, it is stunning. it's pretty clear i think that you have yet to get used to blu rays. after you start buying them and watching them, you won't be able to watch DVDs. well you will, but it will likely frustrate you as such a religious movie buff. you won't be watch a movie without wishing you had it on blu...

Transfer was top notch. Unreal PQ. To bad the movie was not that great IMO. Big let down for me.
