Default General PS3 Firmware Questions

Hello All,

I'm new to the land of Blu-Ray and want to plung into the world of High Definition. I plan on purchasing a Playstation 3 to be able to watch Blu-Ray discs, and play games. I'm not to familiar with firmware updates, so this may sound silly. My only question is this. When I purchase the PS3, get it set up and whatnot, I want to update it to the current firmware, (which, at the present time is version 2.30 I believe). If I download version 2.30, do I also get all previous downloads as well, or do I only get the latest upgrade? If so, is there a way to download any or all previous updates?

I appologies if this has been discussed before. I just am learning about all the goodies that Blu-Ray can offer. And from what I hear and read, PS3 is one of the better Blu-Ray players on the market. I just want to be able to get the most out of it with all the updates possible. Thanks for your time.

All firmware updates include all previous version's enhancements, so no, you don't need to download the other separately.

The PS3's firmware is very simple to update. Just plug in an Ethernet cable in the back, or let it access your home WiFi network and select System Update from the cross media bar interface, and it'll do the rest for you.

or you could follow the other method you can find on playstation.com in the ps3 section on how to update the ps3 if you dont want to do it by internet connection and also on this website even though the internet update to the ps3 has no hassle and so easy to do because it actually walks you through it while you are downloading the latest update

Go to us.playstation.com and click on the ps3 tab and then system updates. Follow the instructions.
