Hate it when they don't tell you it coming out for blu ray - Blu-ray Forum

I hate it when you went out and buy a new movie but like 2 monts later it comes out on Blu Ray. For example I brought Cloverfield for SD and I look all around to see if it coming out for Blu Ray. Then, couple months it comes out for Blu Ray. There will be blood did the same thing to me.

I don't even bother with SD's anymore. Eventualy it will make it to blu, expecialy new movies.

I know. It's even worse with older films. Like Warner's just announced that they'll be releasing an extended edition of THE NEW WORLD on DVD, but no Blu-Ray has been announced. This really gets me, since if there's a filmmaker that deserves to have all his films on Blu-Ray, it's Terrence Malick.

Indeed. That's what I did.

Only thing I've bought on DVD since Blu-Ray is MST3K The Movie and TV Shows.

Somehow i knew Cloverfield would end up on Blu Ray even when people said it wouldn't, I waited and I won the bet...and got it for the price of the DVD

Now, if Criterion would just announce Brazil I wouldn't have to replace my lost DVD. It would be my first since I started buying Blu-Rays....

Oh yeah, I just can't wait to get The New World on blu-ray someday......NOT!!!! IMO, this was one of the most boring movies of all time.

That was the movie that really made me think twice about blind buying a movie. I'm doing it with Vantage Point, but have herd nothing but raves about the movie.

both 'there will be blood' and 'Cloverfield' are paramount movies, they released a bunch of new movies on May 20 everything moved quickly around that time, the former HD DVD only studios are now playing catch up. the way I'm playing this is I avoid DVD like the plague, no point in a buying a movie on DVD only to buy it on Blu-ray 6 month to a year later... the catalogue movies are coming to Blu-ray it's just a matter of patience.

Seriously, if a movie is not out in blu, just rent it. Then wait for it to come out in blu b/c it eventually will. Plain and simple.

Happened to me with Silent Hill, is happening with Sweeney Todd, 30 Days of Night, etc. But my brother is letting me sell him my DVDs that I'm getting Blu-Ray's for instead.

I buy dvds because there are some things that I am confident will not be released on blu right away and I am a MOVIE fan not a format fan.
That being said, I never spend more than $10 on a dvd and usually less than that and can easily trade them in when a blu version is announced.
Anyone who buys a new release or a popular movie though get what they deserved because we know that they will be released on blu.
Anyone who did not think that Transformers, Cloverfield, Sweeney Todd, There Will Be Blood and others would easily be out this year have nobody to blame but themselves.

I'm never buying a DVD again, unless it's extremely rare or is confirmed to never come out on Blu-Ray.

i wonder when blu will take over like dvd did. Every movie now that was ever made is like available on DVD, wonder when blu will do that, im waiting for moives like city of god to co me to blu, but i know that will take a whole to.
