Is was released on HD DVD, you can look up the review at least on High-Def Digest. Can't wait for it to come to Blu-ray.

Since WB hasn't released this movie yet on Blu, lets hope that they have gone back and are remastering the film to blu specs and hopefully with some HD sound. WB lack of putting HD sound on their most recent titles is starting to get old quickly.

Just cause a movie is older doesn't mean Blu Ray won't make it look great

I just watched the old one on TV yesterday. I love it and would definitely pick up a Blu-ray release (after my Warner boycott has ended and only with lossless audio and a decent transfer).

It's funny to read all the comments saying 'i don't care about the video quality' since I figured that was why most people upgraded to Blu from DVD - the video quality. Of course the audio quality is very important too and this one would definitely have to be lossless for me to pick it up.

Yes A Classic. And Yes We Are Talking About The 1971 Film Not Charlie And The Chocolate Factory Which I Did Not Like. I Hope That Willy Wonka Comes To Blue As Soon As Possible.

If you don't care about the video quality, what would even be the point in buying it on Blu-Ray?

If done right, it should be phenominal. I hope they treat this title with respect and do it right the first time and not expect the consumer to double (chocolate) dip.

Johnny Depp was OK as Willy Wonker. He decided to play the character fruiter than a fruit cake. Gene Wilder played the part brilliantly. Intelligent and eccentric, plus he could sing. The second movie was tolerable, but I would never buy that chocolate bunny turd.

It was a classic which did not need to be remade. What's next, the porno edition? "Charlie and the Chocolate Fantasy." Oh, with hot Oompa Loompa action!

Bumppity bump. Thank you, search function.

I would love to see this out on Blu. This is a must-have. Very colorful and crazy with all the chocolate factory gadgets and so forth, and the perfect vintage movie for an update to Blu.

It's already been done.

Anyway, I want both on blu. Burton's version is not a remake, more of a re-telling from the book.

All I really care about when it comes to blu-ray is if it's anamorphic widescreen. That's what I really want. I have it on DVD but it is only fullscreen. I have a 42" 1080P LCD t.v. now so it does not look so good being fullscreen and only 480P.
