If done right, it should be phenominal. I hope they treat this title with respect and do it right the first time and not expect the consumer to double (chocolate) dip.

Johnny Depp was OK as Willy Wonker. He decided to play the character fruiter than a fruit cake. Gene Wilder played the part brilliantly. Intelligent and eccentric, plus he could sing. The second movie was tolerable, but I would never buy that chocolate bunny turd.

It was a classic which did not need to be remade. What's next, the porno edition? "Charlie and the Chocolate Fantasy." Oh, with hot Oompa Loompa action!

Bumppity bump. Thank you, search function.

I would love to see this out on Blu. This is a must-have. Very colorful and crazy with all the chocolate factory gadgets and so forth, and the perfect vintage movie for an update to Blu.

If you don't care about the video quality, what would even be the point in buying it on Blu-Ray?

All I really care about when it comes to blu-ray is if it's anamorphic widescreen. That's what I really want. I have it on DVD but it is only fullscreen. I have a 42" 1080P LCD t.v. now so it does not look so good being fullscreen and only 480P.

Some of us don't like dealing with the hassle.

if there was a store I could order it from, I think I would. I've been tossing around the idea of getting into importing and this among other titles would help, but not if I have to use ebay. THAT is too much hassle for me.

It's already been done.

Anyway, I want both on blu. Burton's version is not a remake, more of a re-telling from the book.

If you want to import this film you don't have to go through Ebay. I have used Amazon.co.uk multiple times with no issues. They have it on sale for 9.98 pounds. Here is the link if you are interested

USA UK version. NOT USA version. Beware of sellers selling UK version.

I bought this blu ray with the high hopes of having a good product. It is not up to my expectations.

Fault 1:
UK Version. NOT USA version (but will play on USA blu ray player)
Displays video 75% of the screen

Fault 2:
Video not up to expectations for decent transfer (lots and lots of grain)

Fault 3:
Audio seperation totally sucked

Factor ratings:
Video 1/5
Audio 2/5

I got screwed when I bought this one.

Bad part is that I clicked on the link that led me to Amazon.com to buy this piece of crap.

Don't get me wrong, I loved this movie. It is a fantastic movie, but to get on a piece of crap blu ray disc totally sucks a big donkey's honker.

Just be warned, there are dealers that are selling the UK version and not listing it as a UK version.

If I had known, I would have not purchased this blu ray disc. I would have waited for the USA version.

It's a Warner Brothers release. They are EXACTLY the same worldwide which is why they don't region code them. All that is different in each country is the casing, the disc label with the age rating logos and other languages. Buy the US release if you want, but unless they do a remaster, it will be the same transfer etc.

ALL the disc are the same transfer. Nothing is different. The UK version is just cheaper than the US and Canadian versions. That is all. I have the UK version and love it!
