Running speaker wire. Need Help.

I am in a temporary living situation for a few months. I can't run any cable/wire under the carpet. I want to put 2 speakers on either side of my bed for surround.

My bed is not on a frame, its on the ground. I have a box spring and a matress. Can I run the wire under the box spring or would that be too much weight on the speaker wire and crush it?

This would have some of the wire showing in spots, but it would look a lot better than just the wire running along the ground in the open.

Can u get away with just running them nr the top (btwn wall and bed?) I'm pretty sure u can "pinch" the signal with the wood from the boxspring !

Sounds like a good idea, although using flat wire designed to go under a carpet might be the better choice in any case.

My bed is in the middle of the room not against a wall (on the sides). The headboard (where it would be) is against a wall, but the sides are not. I have about 2 ft to the wall on my left and 5 ft on my right.

The receiver/tv is about 3 feet in front of the bed at my feet.

My thinking was since the receiver is straight in front of me I could just run in straight under the tv stand to my bed and run it underneath and have it come out the back and place the speakers on end tables besides my bed. I know it will be exposed for the 2-3 feet between the tv stand and my bed, but it's better than a mess of wire and the possibility of tripping over it.

I just don't want to pinch the wire to the point it doesn't work. I think it'll be fine, but I just wanted to make sure before I bought the wire and ruined it.

You could always pick up some wire runways to kind of hide the wire and protect it.

Try elevating your bed a little bit. 2x4s come to mind. You will likely have a problem with the wire if you run it under a hard edge like a box spring and then put pressure on said edge. Have you looked at wireless surround speakers?
