Default Best way to hide the wire running on the floor

I was wondering what is the best way to hide the speaker wire that are running on the floor (no carpet) and that will be safe enough for kids or pets running around.
There is no wall near 1 of my 2 surround, so the wire will be directly on the floor and I don't want my dog to chew the wire, or my futur kids to fall on the wire.

Edit : And there is no basement, so that's not an option to run the wire from the basement

You can run the wire on either side of the room on the floor using regular wire runner you can pick up from Lowes or Home Depot..basically a plastic sleeve and the wire pass thru it.

You can also paint it to match the wall or the floor.

You can buy A large area rug & run them under that ! This is how I have my wiring done for my surrounds & surround rears !

Get an area rug (or two) and run them under that.

This is what I do as well in my basement set up. I have ceramic floors, so no choice but to run them under an area rug.

I think the area rug will be a good option, and my girlfriend was asking for that in the living room, so she will be happy to not see my wire + having a rug

It will probably also help with acoustics.

i've got one of my rooms setup awkwardly... i could have run the wires along the ceiling but im lazy

anyhow i bought white speaker wire from bluejeanscable and ran the wire under one of the couches and an area rug(it comes quite close to the tv about 2ft away) and then i used white wire tie downs and anyway the wires are fairly flat on the ground and taught (from the point of the couch and receiver) so there's no issues of tripping

i have a rabbit that loves to chew on everything but i've been able to teach it not to chew on wires/some furniture (but he still loves boxes and wooden furniture) i just go "hey!" and stomp my foot (the rabbit does that when he's mad so i figure he would understand) and overtime that's been enough to get him to quit it with the wires.

that tactic with boxes and wooden furniture on the otherhand only works if im present once im out of sight he goes at it

they make paper thin speaker wire than I used myself on my rear surrounds. area rugs, wire track, etc.. is very tacky or ugly

Your rabbit goes "Hey!" when he's mad?!

I ran my wires under the carpet for the front and side speakers, through the crawlspace above the ceiling for the rear surrounds. (Actually, I had that done when we moved in -- too hard for me!)

The best and easiest option seems to a large area rug. That will definitely improve audio since you do not have carpets. And most importantly that will make your girlfriend happy too.
