Marantz SR-7002 Question for You Marantz Owners - Blu-ray Forum

I need some help.

I have here these questions three...err, two.

One...how do I activate THX Surround EX on the receiver? Can't for the life of me figure it out. So I can get the 6th channel active on DD EX DVDs.

Two...how do I matrix out 5.1 movies to include the 6th (rear) channel? So I can improve my soundstage?

I've been lookin gover the manual for a bit now:

...and I just can't figure it out! Anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Isnt when you run THX Surround, its tweaking the sound so its not a true Dolby track??

All I know is, the manual says to run DD EX in 6.1, you need to activate THX Surround EX first. Trying to decipher how to do that. Grrr.

oh gotcha. yea not sure, sorry for the lack of help... Does the dvd have to have a 6.1 track to select??

Depending on the receiver, it won't create a whole new channel, but rather send ambient sound to the extra speakers.

This may also NOT illuminate the rear channel on your display, so actually go up to your speaker and put your ear to it...you may only be getting echoes.
