Default Marantz 7002/8002 Question

I see this on the spec sheet for these 2 Receivers. Can someone help me to undestand why there is a difference, and what it means in terms of sound quality?

Freq. Response (Analog In) = 8Hz - 100kHz (+/- 3 dB)
Freq. Response (Dig In) = 8Hz - 45kHz (+/- 3 dB)

Thanks All,

The maximum possible input frequency is about half of the sampling rate (look up Nyquists Theorem for more info), so for a 96 KHz sampling rate, 45 KHz is about the maximum input frequency.

This is why CD is sampled at 44.1 KHz, so that frequencies up to 20 KHz can be accomodated.

I know for a fact that my ears can barely make about above 16Khz, so I just laugh at people (not the OP) who make a big deal about highs being cut down to 45Khz!

How high can you hear?
