Default Marantz SR-7002 VS SR-4001

Okay this is the ? I have the Marantz Sr-4001 And I'm going to upgrade to the SR-7002 Just for the Codec's DTS-HD -Master Audio & Dolby True HD & the RS-232 port for upgradeing. Now Looking at the way I set up the 4001 I have the Sony Blu-ray set to PCM and the SR-4001 set to PCM . Now really if I go to the SR7002 If i set it to PCM I would'nt even use the DTS-HD /MA and D-True HD .So really should I even do the upgrade in all reality. Is there going to be any benefit for this upgrade, and the cost. Mind you i will be upgrading the Sony BDS-300 Blu-ray when the Marantz BD-8002 comes out later this year< this is not a ? I will be doing this ,I only bought the Sony Blu-ray to test out bluray & get my feet wet.plus to start buying Movies .Any input ideas OPN's welcome . thanks for you'r time , And really try to help me justify this , I will picking up the new Marantz SR-7002 on MAY 2nd ,Also got a really good deal on it ,I'll be trading in My SR-4001 Revc, CD-5001 & DV-4001 plus some cash . This way I can recoup what I also payed for them . LMk thanks agian

well, not only will you be gaining more features...but with the newer model 7002 the quality will have been improved overall. Better parts used and better technology.

and when you do eventually upgrade to the BD-8002, you can bitstream the audio to the 7002 for decoding. I think you will be in for a real treat.

PCM, LPCM = same thing.

Bitstream is just a different method used to transfer audio from the player to the Receiver, but theoretically the same as PCM...check out this thread.

HOW TO GET: Uncompressed PCM, Dolby TrueHD & Dts-HD MASTER Audio

okay so if I set the Sony BDS-3000 Blu-ray to Auto and on the new Marantz SR-7002 to DTS-hd/MA or Dolby THD , that means the Pros. will do the decoding for me right. Instead of the blu ray player. Now what happens if I set it to PCM on the Bluray and chose dts hd or d-HD on the disc and dts hd or dolby -hd on the Sr-7002 . What really am I getting out . PCM or DTS-HD / Dolby -THD . Now I really have'nt seen all of the specs on the new Marantz BD-8002 Blu-ray Not sure if it does the decoding itself , if thats the case ,if it does will I also need the Sr-7002 to also beable to decode also or would it be just fine to run the SR-4001 with PCM on it. Makes me wonder . Trying to find out all possible scenario's.
