Blu ray setup/True Hd ???? - Blu-ray Forum

HI, I bought a Sony STRDG820 reviever with hdmi. I own the sony bs300. I did the firmware upgrade to the blu ray player.I cant seem to get the true hd sony to show on this reciever. Is there something in the setup area of the blu ray player that i need to change? Or should the reciever just change to tru hd sound when a true hd blu ray is played? Not sure about the settings pcm/downmix.

Supposedly the 300 is capable of internally decoding D.D. TrueHD from a past FW update. It doesnt bitstream, just sends the signal out PCM. You wont be able to get the HD codecs to display on your receiver with the 300. You do need to set the player to PCM to hear the TrueHD soundtrack.

forget all the technical confusion and replace the blu ray player to a sony s-350 blu ray plyr instead. This will let your new receiver lit the true-hd and dts-hd light easier.

You will not be able to bitstream True HD or DTS Master at all with this bluray player, does not matter what receiver you have. you MUST be able to bitstream in 1.3a HDMI.. PERIOD.
