Default Sony s300 setup/Yamaha htr 5940 receiver True hd ?

Hello, I need some help with the set up of my sony blu ray s300. I have the latest upgrade that gives true hd sound. My receiver is a Yamaha htr 5940.This receiver is hooked up by the optical and multi channel. I dont have a hdmi on the receiver. How do i know if im getting the true hd sound ? I know you can only get the sound through the multi channel. How should the sony blu ray s300 audio setup be set to get the true hd sound? Im not sure about the pcm and downmix in the setup area.
Please help.

With optical, there is no way you'll be getting TrueHD. Sorry. You have to have HDMI or a player that does the decoding internally and uses analog outs (5.1 or 7.1 outs).

Although the latest firmware update, 4.2, provides Dolby TrueHD internal decoding, the only way to get Dolby TrueHD from the BDP-S300 is via HDMI and the BD player's outputting PCM (not AUTO setting).

The BDP-S300 cannot send Dolby TrueHD via optical or via the 5.1 analog outputs.
